Cold, dark days around PrairieRose's house
Literally. We've been without power since 1 a.m. on Saturday morning. Bbbrrrhhhhhh. We had lots of rain and then lots of ice causing power outages for our entire town and parts of the other ones nearby. I think it just now kicked back on again (it was on for 3 hours during the night). Fingers and frozen toes hoping that it's here to stay.
We've been managing just fine. We have a generator (which is powerful enough to run a small tv - according to Gripey one of THE most important things to have working...
, a space heater and the computer) and the fireplace. It's still been about 55 for the high in here and for a while a lot cooler than that. I'm thrilled to hear that heater run down the hall now. I'm dreaming of my electric mattress pad for tonight
.
Anyhoo, hope everyone else is having plenty of light and heat......

Lisa, I didn't realize you were without power. I am glad it is up and running again, especially so you can keep those toes warm. BRRR! I would freeze to death if my toes were cold. No, DH would freeze to death because I would keep them on him to warm them up. LOL! I am glad you made it through the worst part. I hope you don't receive any more bad weather!!

Wow i live in Oklahoma and we just got rain where i live but the pan handle was slammed with ice and snow. I hope that your power stays on a few years ago we had a bad ice storm and lived in country and it took power companys from neighboring states to help get us up and running again. We were without only 4 days. We didn't have a generator at that time either. But we survived it. And alittle note to that when they did get it going again it caught my neighbors trees on fire and kicked it out again for another day. The trees were so dry that even the ice didn't affect them or prevent fire.

Went thru that during our October surprise snow storm and it was no fun. Hang in there.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

Saying a little prayer that your power stays on, your toes warm up, and the rest of your New Year be blessed. Thank goodness you had a generator. We haven't had to use ours as yet, but we feel better just knowing it's there if we should need it.

Mom and Dad were actually warmer than we were. We begged them to come over here thinking that we were more comfortable but yesterday we took them some bacon and we were shocked at how much warmer their house was than our's. They had water steaming on the stove and that made a LOT of difference.
The power is still on after a flicker or 2 last evening. It was a wonderful night's sleep on the electric mattress pad. Felt so much better to be in my nightie rather than sweats, sweatshirt, socks and gloves....
