Are you watching President Ford's funeral today?
I'll watch some of it, but won't leave it on all day. I watched some of the ceremony the other night on CNN when his casket arrived at the Capital. I was impressed this morning when the news said that Ford's children personally greeted the general public as they came to pay their respects.
I'm fascinated by all the pagentry that goes on-- the military stuff, and the stops at various places that signify various periods in Ford's life. However, since I don't really remember President Ford, this one isn't as interesting to me as Reagan's was.

I have it on now as I type. I too enjoy the "pagentry" and history of the services...I admire Betty Ford greatly and I think this entire family is the definition of true grace. I watched the other night-at the WW2 memorial and at the rotunda, and couldn't help worry about how frail Mrs. Ford looked and how exhausted she must be. These kind of day-long services are for a much-younger person, IMHO.

I watched a bit of it, but honestly it didn't hold my interest. I did like hearing about things that happened during his life though.

I've watched bits and pieces(not like Reagan's where I sat in front of the tube for DAYS). Ford became president when I was in high school, so I remember HIM, but not alot of his presidency. I've learned quite a bit these last few days.
One thing I do wish they'd stop though...is the constant reporting by Barbara Walters about her interview with Betty Ford, where she was drinking and slurring her words. This is NOT the time to be bringing that up, or discussing her breast cancer.

I watched it because I love history. My two oldest sons watched it with me because I explained to them this is part of their history. It did hold thier interest. I was expecting them to get up and walk out, but they sat there and watched it with me.

I've had it on all afternoon. I think it's important to witness history when we get the rare opportunity to do so.

I was a teenager when Ford was president. I remember watching the Watergate scandel and my parents saying they felt for him because he was put into a bad postion because he didnt want to be president. I also remember when Betty Ford announced that she had a drinking problem. Something unheard of from someone in her postion. She did alot to bring the problem of drinking out into the open and to dispell the shame of it. Also the same with her cancer. Before when someone had these type issues it was not public knowledge. She did alot for America in bringing these type issues to the forefront. I applaud her for that

I'm not watching the funeral, but I do enjoy hearing about his life. I watched Reagan's and at the very end when Nancy started weeping at his casket, I just felt so guilty. I understand that he was a public figure, but the two of them had such a great love story, and here she was saying her last goodbye, and I just felt it was something I shoudn't be watching.

I watched this morning. I too, was a teenager when he was appointed to the Presidency. While I didn't agree with him politically, I think he was a good man.
God rest his soul.

I was around 8 years-old when Ford took office. I liked him; and was disappointed when Jimmy Carter defeated him in the election.
At the time Water Gate was going on we were living in a little town in Idaho where people irrigated their yards from the ditches; using what they called "water gates" and I remember asking my Mom why they couldn't just let the people use the water gates and water their yards; that's what we did.
President Ford was one of those people I always wanted to have dinner with and just talk to him. I didn't watch the other night, but I did watch this morning because he was someone I admired and I wanted to pay my respects to his family and to say good-bye. I'm going to play one of the hymns they used in the service as an offertory on Sunday -- The King of Love My Shepherd Is.
