I want go to sleep!!! Everytime I lay down I start coughing. Nothing seems to be working. I'm going on 3 nights with ever little sleep. Can't get into see my Dr. she's booked. I'm already drinking hot tea, sucking on hard candy, Drinking cough syrup with codine. What else can I do........ I'm so tired.

Yes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

Do you have some place like an Immediate Care near you???? It's not an emergency room.....more like a walk in doctors office with several doctors on. We use the one hear all the time for illness when our regular physician can't see us right away. There's something similar down by my MIL's in Tampa too although theycall it something different. Hope you get in to see someone and can get some sleep. Sending

Are you sticking to the same cough syrup? Maybe ask the pharmisist for something better, different? Don't lie on your back either this will cause you to cough more.

I have had the same problem. It usually happens after I've had a cold. I remember one particular time my cough was so bad that I too was up for three nights. I tried everything, including prescription cough medication and nothing worked.

The doctor told me that I had reactive airways, which is a "cousin" to asthma. I guess that laying down somehow makes the cough worse due to the change in position. Good luck. I know how awful it can be.
