Gave Blood, do you?
Gave Blood blood this week, it was my second time to do so and I am 42. I will now continue it because it is a good feeling to help someone who might need it.
I was 14 and I recieved a blood transfusion when having an operation.
This week when I gave though I went in on Monday the gal was newer at doing this and got a piece of skin, so that cloged the needle and they couldn't get none out of that arm, the whole crew didn't like the other arm either, she said I could come back Tuesday they would be at the HS so I did.
Since I got stuck twice I did get my card stamped twice, so 2 more times and I get my FREE T-shirt

Yeah, I give blood. I've given twice too. I don't care for the bloodlet when it's going on but it is for a good reason. I can give again on Jan. 31st, so I'm going to put it in my planner to look for a blood drive somewhere. They usually have them all the time here. I'm going to try & give more from now on.

I never have although I want to. Seems like the past few years I've been nursing or pregnant so I couldn't. I have a semi-rare type of blood so I always feel like I should give.

I do not give blood. I am not scared of needles, as I already give myself around 6-8 shots a day. When I was younger I did not weigh enough. The center told me you had to weigh something like 112 or a 117 lbs. Now that I have passed that weight I have too many health issues to donate. But I have also made it clear to DH and my parents that under no circumstances do I want to receive a blood transfusion - no religious or moral reason - I just do not want one.
I think it is wonderful that so many do take the time to donate blood.DD (19)

I haven't given blood yet, but I've been thinking about trying again. For most of my life I've been 110 or under and they wouldn't let me donate. Right now I'm about 115. DH donates twice a year.

Me and DH have really wanting to donate plasma but since we both recently got a tattoo we have to wait a little while.
My mom used to donate plamsa all the time until her iron got too low. She told me how it all works and what to do to make it go faster (like no caffiene, drink a lot of water and take a asprin the night before).
DH's dad donates blood a couple times a year.

oh man. the one time i gave blood i had a trophy bruise the size of new york on my arm. well.. both arms actually because they couldnt get the first one to go. on the second arm once they got the blood flowing, the nurse couldnt connect the baggie to the thing they stick in your arm. it was like something out of the addams family with the blood gushing everywhere.. haha.. funny now that i think about it.

I used to. I lied about my weight to donate. But now I'm on medication and I can't.

Wish I could. DH and I have been to too many "restricted countries". I was in England in the 80's and lived in Korea. Then DH has been to several middle eastern countries which required different shots that exclude him from giving blood

I never have buy my oldest DD has discovered the joy of giving her blood. She signed up for the school blood drive last spring and got her card and all. Recently they had a drive at the local hospital during Christmas break and she called herself and made an appointment. She will just make the 56 day cutoff for the next school drive.
I, however will be an organ donor. DD would like to do this also.

I gave once. I've always had very low blood pressure my whole life and never realized it could be a problem. They had trouble keeping me conscious towards the end because my pressure dropped so much. (was working as a vet assistant at the time so no probs with blood or needles here) We managed to finish up a usable pint, but I was told I couldn't donate blood in the future. It's a shame because I wish I could donate regularly.

I've donated around 10 times. Alot of times I couldn't because I was pregnant or nursing. I'm 32 and have been either pregnant or nursing for 8 and a half years(wow, I've never added it up before!!) Anyways I haven't over the last year because I didn't have anyone to watch Emily.
I've always felt the need to donate even though I hate needles, because I almost died when I was a kid and needed 3 transfusions.
