Default My staff suprised me, nicely!!!!

I have a staff of about 20, all but two are women. We are a hugely diverse group, 1/3 right out of college, about 1/3 in our 30s and the rest are grandmothers, they come from all over the world. Can I tell you that I generally am so on top of them that they don't sneeze without me knowing it, but I have missed a lot of days and 1/2 days lately because of sick foster baby and when I have been there I have been locked in my office trying to catch up and get ahead for my maternity leave. Friday we had a day long staff mtg, half way through my supervisor called me in to meet, an hour later I came out of the office to a baby shower. They had planned a full luncheon, they had made centerpieces, ordered a beautiful cake, made party favors and decorated. It seems they had been planning this for quite a while and preparing things all week right under my nose, sneaky little things! It was so sweet! I was truly suprised. There were lots of nice, useful gifts, a six tier diaper cake covered in goodies. I was just so touched! This shows me just how well they have learned to work together over the past few years. I just had to share.

What a lovely surprise! Baby showers are great, and even more so when you're the one who gets to take home all the presents!
