Just like them. First they drive all the little business out of business when they move in ans then they stop carrying things. Its to get you to stop making things and buy them ready made. Read the book "How Walmart is killing America"

It seems to me that perhaps Wal-Mart isn't driving any businesses out of town. Perhaps the CONSUMERS are driving out the small businesses by not shopping them. I love Wal-Mart. Part of the great thing about the USA is the freedom to choose where to shop I choose to shop at Wal-Mart for convenance. You can choose to stop at 5 smallers stores if you like. It is all about choice. Wal-Mart doesn't take your choice away, you choose which places to shop, same as I do JMHO

I found it interesting in the article that they mentioned how Target, K Mart, and JC Penny no longer carry fabric, so it would be in Walmart's best interest to not carry fabric. Further more, find it interesting that they are basically telling consumers to go to JoAnn and Hancock to get their fabrics or that it will boost their sales. Hmmm...I guess the days are gone when you could find a good store that carried things you wanted at a reasonable price. By that I mean the dime stores, etc... It was a convience to go to those stores in a pinch and most often they sold things like handkerchiefs, lace doilies, any kind of craft and some clothing items, amongst a host of many things. I miss those stores greatly. I don't want to go to a store to buy clothing and buy groceries too. Call me old fashioned, but the stores are just losing their charm. Sad really.

99% of the time that was the only reason I went to Wal-Mart for craft things and fabric!! The other 1% was a little school shopping.

I went to the brand spankin new "green" Walmart, that just opened near us two weeks ago, and they have no fabric department. Also, not much of a craft department, just basics.
