    When my dd#1 was born, she weighed 8 lbs 7 oz and was over 22 inches long. She was the biggest baby in the nursery. Two days later, a woman who lived down the road from us (we lived on a Navy base) had a 12 lb baby girl! She was born with two teeth and made my dd look like a preemie! It was the woman's 4th child and first girl (her first three had weighed 9, 10, and 11 pounds successively).

    I would be willing to be that the mother had gestational diabetes that either went undiagnosed or untreated because of lack of good prenatal care. I have an aunt that is obese, and because of this she hasn't had regular periods for years. She found out she was pregnant just weeks before she had her almost 14 pound baby, and that baby's size was caused by the mother having diabetes that wasn't controlled.

    The twins weighed a total of 14lbs 2oz when they were born, but I couldn't imagine all in one baby. My 2nd child only weighed 7lbs but he was 26inches long.

    DH was 14 lb 1 oz at birth. He was delivered by c-section. Dmil went on to have another baby six years later. This one was tiny.....only 10 1/2 lbs.

    When my OB/GYN found out how big DH was at birth he did extra ultrasounds to check the size of my kids- he induced me 3 1/2 weeks early with both and they still were decent sized 8 lb 5 oz each. I could not imagine having one much bigger.

    coop was nearly 11lbs when he was born (def a c-section baby) and could already hold his head up on his own. we of course had to take all the newborn clothes and diapers back and buy the 3-6m ones instead. man i couldn't imagine having one any larger then him.

    One of my co-workers JUST had her baby last night, her new daughter is 9 lbs. 15 oz. Mom is all of 5' 2" and 100lbs soaking wet. NO C-section! She squeezed that baby all the way out. I think it'll be about a week before she can walk again
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference
