Default Habitat meets Home Edition - Need advice

I've got an idea and am in a quandry about how to get it off the ground and thought I should share it here.

One of my favorite shows of all time is ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I think the crew of this show have the best jobs in the world. What I want to do within my community is marry home edition to habitat for humanity. Now I do not work with either of these organizations and would like to in the future. By using the word "marry" I am attempting to get the best of both worlds.

What I would like to do is open an organzation which would take requests for help from homeowners. If someone needs some landscaping done, or plumbing or electrical work I want to have volunteers (certified or licensed as needed) do the work. In exchange for the work done homeowners volunteer to help with other projects in the works. Some people may just need to get some cleaning done.

I think it is important to work within our communities to help everyone.

I would like to know if anyone knows of any organization that may currently exist and or your thoughts on how to handle this one.

    Thanks!
    Diana

I agree, sounds like a wonderful idea, you might want to start small within your community then work your way up the ladder.

You could make a start with the members of your church. Have different members volunteer to do stuff.
