That's terrible. I have noticed that all the produce and fruit have gone up. I try to keep fresh fruit and veggies in the house all the time, but the prices are just outta site right now and who knows when they will come back down.

I'm feeling very lucky. Before Christmas I bought 4 - 4lb bags of oranges for $7.00. The girls were on an orange kick at the time so I figured they would eat them in a month. I stored them in our garage and kind of forgot about them. I went out this week and took the last bag out before we had the really cold temperatures. I figured that I might be able to use them for cooking with - but they are still good to eat. I didn't realize that they could last this long.

This is good because I will not be buying any at the prices they are now.

I'm going to miss my citrus fruits but I can't afford to pay those prices. Maybe it will be better next year. I can only hope.

Just a quick correction: Florida's crops didn't freeze, California's did. Florida's crops are still trying to recover from the Citrus Canker epidemic.

I'm going to miss fresh oranges, too! The prices here are slowly going up, though they were on sale last week. I'm glad I stocked up on oj concentrate--I can't do without my oj in the morning lol!

DS eats several oranges a day - like at least 4-6. We have to buy them in bulk and I have noticed a slight increase in the price, but not that much. Right now we are paying on average between $0.50 to $0.75 per orange. I am just going to have to suck it up and buy them. He cannot go without his oranges. I may have to have DH get a second job if they get too high - lol!

We lost about 75% of our navel (eating) orange here in CA with the freeze. Lost most the avocados, too. FL has Valencias and they go for juice, so there will still be plenty of OJ.

Interestingly, we still have plenty of really great and unusual citrus at the farmer's market. Not cheap, but then FM is always really expensive. I get the most amazing supersweet white grapefruit........and blood oranges...........yummmmm.
