Am I becoming a crazy dog lady?
Let me give you some quick background information. Our family has always been dog lovers my DH
and I got our first dog puppy a "German Sheppard" a few weeks after we got married 20 years ago. We currently have a “Samoyed” (91 lbs) he is 15yrs old next month. About 3 weeks ago my husband came home and asked me to go with him to see a puppy that needed a home he was abandoned needless to say It was love at first sight for me he is now 15 week old a “Jack Russell” (8 lbs.). So far I have bought him his own "fleece coat"
, a burrow bed to sleep in because he loves to be cozy and warm all the time I brush his teeth every night. A close friend of mine gave me an expensive Sherpa carry along bag that can be seat belted in a car or carried on a plane I find myself taking him everywhere with me. I work 3 days a week and come home at lunch to take him out of his kennel for a potty break and to run around with our Samoyed. Do I need help?

NO! You dont need help, loving a pet is a wonderful thing, we have 2 dogs ad both came from shelters, I cant even believe someone gave them up, so well mannered our Jack Russell knows sit, stay, paw, other paw, roll over, quiet, etc... very mild and laid back dog, cant imaging y they gave him to the kennel but their loss was my gain.
I love my dogs and wish I could have more, just cant afford it! I think it's wonderful to love your animals so much, more power to ya!

You are not crazy at all. One of my dogs (weimaraner - sp?)has his own bedroom complete with a queen size bed, two wing back chairs, tv, etc.. My other dog (jack russell) is so spoiled. She is always with me, doing whatever I do. She has lots of clothes and loves her collar (her "bling-bling"). If you tell her you are going to take her "bling-bling" from her she gets so mad!!! When we go on vacation she comes with us and stays at an upscale pet resort. I pay the amount for her to stay at the resort per night as I do for my resort at Disney World. My cats get clean sheets and blanket all warm and cozy from the dryer to lay on when it is cold. They get real tuna, and chicken to eat. I litter box trained the rabbit so he would not have to live outside, although he does have a one-of-a-kind hand made deluxe house in the backyard. We have him his own area in the sports room, it is about a six foot baby gated area. He eats apples, bananas, raisins and oatmeal daily because he is not a fan of rabbit food.
When my jack russell was a puppy, she slept in a doll baby bed. One of the cats likes to be pushed in a doll baby stroller - no I don't do this outside the neighbors may talk.
I love to spoil my animals. Theey are just as much a part of the family as the rest of us. Have fun spoiling and loving your furry babies - they are so worth it!!!DD (19)

All the animals I have ever had had been spoiled by me and the rest of the family. All most all of our pets have been from shelters and they have all been spayed/neutered to prevent any babies from ending up at shelters. The animals have all become part of our family, so I don't think you need help at all.

Jen--what on earth made you think you're becoming the crazy dog lady?? It sounds like you are a very responsible pet owner, not some wacko. Lol--especially since your newest puppy is such a tiny little thing compared to the others you've had. How can he not be a constant companion? My two labs are always around me--though I have not gone so far as to buy them clothes, I have considered boots due to the salt used to clear the sidewalks!
Neeley--I wish I had the space to spoil my pets like that. I tried to bring the rabbit inside--she didn't like it at all so back out she went. Dh is allergic to cats or else I'd have several. My only nod to spoiling the citters is giving them "human" treats like fruits and veggies, hm dog biscuits, etc, and setting up a wading pool for my turtle outside during the summer. He stays in the garden and has numerous toad friends that stay with him, eating the bugs. He loves to snack on the marigold plants

It's not hard to love pets. It doesn't take long for them to take a place in your heart. Do you and your husband have any human children?

I don't have much money to spoil my cat babies with, but they are well cared for and very well fed. I try to show them how important they are by the care and love that I give them. I don't have any human children yet, but the cats are my babies and will be even after I have some of my own
I don't think anyone can spoil their pets enough, and I would never consider anyone crazy for doing what they can for their pet children!

My pets are very spoiled too. It's hard to say "no" because they know how to push your buttons! Animals are very smart in that way!

Coming from a woman whose poodle has her own heating pad to lie on during the winter (she freezes in our cool house otherwise), eats oatmeal squares with her daddy for breakfast (only a couple of squares but is still spoiled to them) and goes to the 'beauty shop' once a month for a new do (from red bows in her hair to her red painted nails....
) I'd say you're well with the dog lovers 'normal' range

Well I say if you are a 'crazy dog lady'
to the club!
We have only had one dog, Peachie, and she was spoiled rotten. She went everywhere with me too. She was a 75 pound terrier/husky mix, who thought the best place in the world to be was on my lap.
Now I am the crazy cat lady, see my siggy.
And believe it or not ALL of them are spoiled too.

I think you are a great pet owner and that you just love your furbabies. We have a schaunzer named Harley that is our baby. He is spoiled rotten and thinks that if we are home he has to be on our laps or at least laying on our feet if he can not get in out laps. He has a toybox full of toys and gets new ones each time we go to the store. I have not bought him any clothes but am considering a raincoat for when the weather is wet outside.
