I need more hours in the day to get stuff done and do stuff that I want to do. Does anybody else feel this way?? I'm recently divorced and own my own home. I live with my 3 dogs and a cat. I work full time and occassionally work Saturdays and overtime. I need to figure out how to keep the house clean, the yard kept up and the dogs groomed. I also want to list stuff on E-Bay and work on making quilts for Christmas gifts as well as finish the one for my bed. I just moved into my house in June and I still have boxes to unpack and a garage to clean as well as filing to catch up with. Sometimes it seems there's soo much to do, that I don't do anything. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do everything I need to do? I would appreciate any ideas that you have as I've been trying to figure out a schedule and it's not working.
Thanks!

I also feel like I need more time in the day. I never seem to get it all accomplished either. With work, family, school, the house cleaning, taking care of the finances, and attending extra-curricular activities, I just don't know how anyone does it.
I think that you just need to do what you feel is important for you and your family. If the dishes can wait, let them. I know they will still be there when I get around to it....I am not meaning days on end, but for a few hours or overnight.

I know exactly where you are coming from! It never seems as if there is enough hours in a day to accomplish what you want to do. I also work full time and overtime at times. What I do is try to tackle one thing at a time. Decide what is most important to tackle first and do that. I notice that you live in MI. It's still cold here so could you tackle your garage when spring comes? Sometimes I will set the time say maybe for a half an hour and tackle one project such as cleaning and see how much I can accomplish in that time. If you want to spend more time on that certain project set the timer for as long as you want. When I moved into my home and one of my other freinds had moved the same time as I did. One year later we still had boxes to unpack so you are not alone in that department. If your anything like I am you want everything done at once. Could you set aside one night and list what you want to put on E-Bay? The other thing I do is before I go to bed at night I straighten up for about 10 to 15 minutes. Nothing major, but when I get up in the morning I feel better knowing the house is clean. Another thing I before I walk out of the room I may grab a few things that need to go into the kitchen or wherever and put them where they belong. Try not to be so hard on yourself. With work, working overtime, taking care of the dogs and cat, moving into a new place, and recently getting divorced
is alot for one person. Just try to do one thing at a time and believe me it will get done and if it doesn't don't be so hard on yourself. Hope this will help you a little.
I agree with you as well. I think just try tackling one thing at a time and YES do the garage once it's warm outside, dont want to freeze out there.
Keep your head up you can do it! Write down a list of things you want to accomplish, starting with the most important one and do them one by one when you have time.

One word.....LIST! I make a master list of everything I need or would like to do for the week and then break it down into days. Some days I get everything done, some days I don't. If I don't accomplish everything on my list for the day... I just move it to the next day... eventually it all gets done

I agree..however if there's a lot of stuff you really want to work on, my other suggestion would be eventually to use your vacation time if you can and instead of going someplace, just stay home and work on everything! This is just a thought....

Same here- I have a running list of projects and try to squeeze in as much as I can in a day. I break my decluttering down to 15 mins a day but still feel like I am making progress (and at least keeping the piles from growing - lol).

I have four kids, three dogs, three cats, a HUGE house, and dh who helps as much as he can ....for being male . I work 4 days/week, go to college full time (four days/week plus one online class). I feel like I could use an extra 12hrs a day just to get everything done!!
I agree with the other posters...just take it one baby step at a time. It didn't all get out of control all at one time, so don't try to or expect to be able to get it straightened out all at once.

Wow, it looks like we could all use a bit more time in the day! I definitely think that the more I declutter, the better off I will be! That's why I need to get listing on E-Bay! I have SOOO much stuff, plus I could use the extra $$. I think I will do my basic cleaning throughout the week and then one day a week i'll spend 15-30 minutes either filing, unpacking boxes, sewing or listing on e-bay.
Thanks for all your help!!

Although my situation is drastically different from yours, I feel the same way. I think being a grad student is characterized by not enough time. In fact, I think we're set up to operate on not enough time
I just have to keep working and working. Coming to post here is what I do when I need a break, like now in writing an essay on cultural history and the restructuring of notions of time and space.
