Default Out of 15 days, my kids have had school 1 time!!!!

Yikes, school is closed again!!! Out of the last 15 days, my kids have had school 1 time only . Can you say that I am beginning to go nuts!!!??? The cold, and the snow has made it very difficult to even go out, I am ready for SPring!!! All of you Floridians, I am jealous!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone elses kids missed a lot of school lately??? I have been using my stockpile, but need to go out today and get more groceries etc. We are supposed to get a bit more snow tomorrow into Sunday. My propane is getting very expensive too because of the frigid temperatures.

Between the strike at the begining of school and snow days they are saying that the kids here might have to go on saturdays. Then the teachers can complain about having to work Saturdays.

Yikes, that's a lot of missed days! I hope your kids don't have to start going to school on Saturday....that would NOT be fun, especially when the weather starts getting nice.

My kids have not missed a day yet.

I remember Blizzard of 1978 and I was out of school for 3 weeks. All we had to do was make up 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon. I am not sure if we had to make up anydays along with it at the end of school. I loved having all that time off and 1/2 hour seemed like nothing to make up. I wonder if your school would consider it instead of saturdays? I am sure the teachers would rather do that.

Last week the kids had 2 hour delays for 2 days in a row, this week they had to go to school Monday and Tuesday then off Wed. and Thurs. because of snow, Friday because of Teacher inservice and Monday the 19th for Presidents day.

It just came across our television, that our kids will be having school on Monday, President's Day. I had dental appointments for them at 8 am, not sure what to do. They really need to be back at school, but I have had their appointments scheduled for months. I will probably keep the dental appointments, I guess what is another few hours of school missed at this point. The state of Ohio gives us 5 snow days, then after that we usually tack them on at the end, like June, I am surprised that they will be having school Monday, that has never happened. They never do that. I wonder if that will happen at Easter time too? One day also, or even two may be excused through the state because we were in a Level 3 emergency.,

That is a lot of missed days...Could the school cancel one of the spring vacations? I would rather that than go later in summer. I don't think there should be two weeks-Feb. and April anyway. I'd like just one, say in March/April. Hope it works out for you.

We don't have a spring break. Now the television has revised it's original statement, we don't have school Monday. It goes against the teacher's contract. We will have a long summer.

Kids here have missed two days this year because of ice. They will have to make it up on Monday (President's Day) and the day after what was supposed to be the last day of school.

No snow days here, but I understand about the tuition cause it's the same for me. Last Thursday afternoon DD's school sent home a note saying there would be no school the next day because the basketball team would be playing in the play off games in Atlanta, and all of the teachers wanted to attend. Oh man, you talk about some angry parents, especially the parents of the smaller children who work and had to scramble to find sitters at the last minute. I told the principle that DD would not attend a make up day if one is scheduled. This is only one reason DD will attend the public high school this fall.
