What songs do you like that you hear at grocery stores?
Usually, I hear songs by
Shania Twain
No Doubt -- The only one I've heard is "Don't Speak"
*N SYNC
Backstreet Boys
Faith Hill
Sheryl Crow
Fleetwood Mac
Phil Collins
A lot of times, I hear songs that I like but have no clue who sings it or what the title of the song may be which bugs me.

Happily none of our grocery stores play music. There are stores I will not go in because the music is so obnoxious (and loud) to my ears. I finally called Linens 'n Things and told the manager that I had been in twice, but left before I had time to find what I was looking for, and that I would not be back -- and told him why. He must think I'm a real crank! Well, maybe I am, but all I could think of while I was there was escape. I felt positively battered by the sound.

LOL, I couldn't tell you what our grocery store plays-- I shop with both kids in tow!
I have been in small stores before like Donna mentioned, though- where the music was so loud that I just wanted to leave. The place I used to get my hair cut was like that & it didn't make for a pleasant experience.

~I like soft music while I shop. Classical would be ideal since it soothes the spirit and improves concentration. My second choice would be rock & roll hits, any era. Rock music helps me focus and it makes me feel good. If it's any other kind of music I tune it out and don't remember if they were even playing music. If I wasn't afraid of looking like a weirdo I'd wear my MP3 player in. I've yet to see a single person wear one into a grocery store.~

Honestly, I have never heard music being played in the grocersy store. There are other types of businisses that I have heard music in the background. DH and I have walked out of many stores because the music is too loud or offensive.
If the music is not too loud or offensive, I still tune it out. When I go into a store I am on a mission to get what I want/need and go. If I were to pay attention to the music, I would get side tracked and forget something.DD (19)

I'vew never really heard songs playing at the grocery store! But, this is so funny:
When we lived in small town Nebraska a few years back, I will never forget goin gto the grocery store on a Saturady when the Huskers were playing...yup, you guess, the football game was playing over the loudspeakers.....really loud!!! It was the funniest thing!

Anything that doesn't have a high note singer singing it. I hate when they let go with that shrill sound. Mariah Carry comes to mind, don't mind when she sings "regularly" but those high notes kill me. I often talk to others in the isles that feel my pain, they are cringing too & I know why.

I too have never heard songs played at the grocery store, but I do remember hearing music while pumping gas the other day at the gas station, but if I had to choose ... I dont really care as long as it's not loud or has any curse words or provocative in nature. (I usually travel with my DD who's only 11).

I couldn't tell you what songs I hear at the grocery store...LOL But when there is a college football game on and I am in this particular store, so is the game. Guess I don't pay much attention, but always like to hear rock hits from the 60's and 70's.

I never pay attention, but I know the one I go to each week must play music because at Christmas they play holiday music. I'll have to pay attention when I go next time, I must tune it out in order to focus on my shopping.

Our Piggly Wiggly always plays music and I always pay attention to what is playing. My favorite song they play is "Love Shack" by the B-52's. It's one of my favorite's anyway.

I remember vividly being in Walmart once, and all of a sudden I heard some music come on...and it was a Christian song (one of my favorites, too)! Sure enough, they had their store music turned to a Christian radio station and I thought to myself "Right on!" No more listening to that terrible rap and hip-hop music. Like I want to hear P.Diddy's opinion on anything.
Also, when I was in high school, my two brothers and I were janitors at our local grocery store. The first night we started, we figured out how to turn on the store intercom and play our CDs throughout the whole store as we worked...it certainly made the time go by faster!

One of my all time fav songs and I was going to say that but wasn't sure if I've heard it in the store. That song just makes me happy, burst into song & it is at it's best in the summer with the windows down & the music cranked!
