most Chinese food are laden with monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is an unhealthy substance. some people get migraines immediately after eating Chinese food due to this ingredient.

Why is it so salty? I'm sure they could cut out a lot of that salt without sacrificing taste if they wanted to. It's such a shame....Chinese food is one of my favorites.

I knew about the salt but thought I was ok in the calorie dept ordering the stir fry chicken and veggies. Guess not.

I'm not really surprised. But I can't imagine that authentic Chinese food is quite like this. I'm sure we eat much larger portions, and they probably don't eat quite like this all day in China.
That said, I've never been a big fan of Chinese food. I love me some Japanese and Thai

This is actually quite true. We were in China in Nov to adopt our daughter (small town, rural China and that) - and the food is very different from I've ever eaten. Delicious too! Sauteed Bamboo shoots, noodles like I've never tasted before - dumplings filled with I don;t want to know what kind of meat. Oh yeah, we saw ostrish tendons, dog (yes dog!), frogs, sea turtles....and on and on all on the menu.....yummy huh?!?!?!

I guess it varies in different regions of China. I've been to Beijing and some restaurants cook their food with lots of seasoning. Its amazing what exotic kinds of food they have on their menu and I'm sure you acquire a taste for them.
Previously, most Chinese were on the lean side but not anymore since the entry of KFC and McDonalds over there
