Where is my head?
I have messed up big this month. I am late paying a bill, we have screwed up big time on our budget even in the last couple of weeks. I can't find some library books to take back. I forgot about another bill completely!!!!
I swear my head is not attached this month. I got sick last night and when I get sick I tend to feel like I am forgetting everything. But even before that I feel like I am walking just stretched to many ways and keep forgetting things. I think maybe I need a vacation.
With the unknown with DH and everything right now and getting sick I just want to stay in bed for a couple of days eat crappy food and watch mindless movies, until my brain comes back.
Anybody else feel this way lately?

I sooo have days --- sometimes weeks like this. Someone told me when you keep forgetting things its because your brain has gone into survival mode and is only remembering the most basic needs. Sounds good to me!! So take a rest or else you'll be doing as I call it "defeating your own purposes!"

Time to get into recovery mode! Get a piece of paper and a pen and stick it on the fridge. Now, no matter what you think of, no matter when it is, run to the fridge -- not to EAT!!! -- and write down what it is you thought of that needs to be done. Doesn't matter if it's pay the mortgage, feed the cat, iron a shirt or donate blood -- write it down!!!
Even if it's something that you can do right this second, write it down anyway -- you never know when a kid skins his knee or the phone rings or a neighbor might stop by and distract you. So write down EVERYTHING that needs to be done. If it's past due, not due for a month, whatever, write it down.
Slowly, as you write these things down, you will begin to notice them more on the fridge and you'll be better able to get back to a task that needs to be done. Oooops, forgot to iron that shirt! 2 minutes later, that task is completed and you can scratch it off the list. You'll feel better because not only are you getting things accomplished, but you can see your progress!
Trust me on this one, sister -- I do this all the time. My memory is really that bad!If you're interested in frugal living, minimalism and and

I do this when I get sick too, I call it the stupid cold. Just can't keep things straight and forget the simplest things. Your not alone, I just wish I had an answer to it.

Thanks ladies. I think I am going to start writting stuff down until things return to normal, because I am sure I will forget more and probably have. At least today I don't feel as sick.

I feel exactly the same way! I didn't pay a bill on time and got charged a $29.00 late fee. Fortunately they waived it for me. I managed to get yet another miserable cold and feel awful. And with the house for sale I feel like I can't relax in my own home. It always has to be "show" ready. Not a fun way to live. I just want to crawl in bed and pull the blankets over my head for a few days! LOL

Ok. Writing things down is great - if you can keep up with your list. I seem to be terminally list challenged. I am fairly competent with a calendar, however, so I write down when the bills are likely to be due on the calendar, and pay them a little bit earlier than necessary, and call and ask for the amounts and addresses if I can't find the bill - they probably think I'm an idiot but at least it saves the late fees. At one point I realized that nearly 10% of my non-cash monthly expenditures were going to late fees - and I put a stop to it. I deal with the calendar on a weekly basis. It's an odd way, but it works for me. And I STILL can't keep up with things like my grocery list.

One of the reasons I was hired into my current position was that they were so impressed that I had a list of questions all ready for them. If only they knew thats how I get by in this world!

Tracy,
Don't feel bad. I think we have all gone through this. I like Nada's idea of keeping the list on the fridge.

If it's not written down, it doesn't exist and won't happen.
Tracy. I hope you are feeling better soon and that things get back to normal for you.
