Finally gonna order a freezer!
~I've been waiting 5 years for a free, cheap used or awesome sale freezer. I'm tired of waiting! I just got a flyer from Home Depot for 10% off your first purchase with a HD credit card, free delivery AND no interest no payments for a year! I've decided on a GE manual defrost 14.1 cubic foot upright freezer. It burns 442 KWH a year which for me is about $5 a month. It'll be$370 with tax after the discount. Now I can get rid of my second fridge. Hopefully we'll get over to order it tomorrow. I'm so excited! I can't wait to fill it up with good deals and OAMC stuff!~

That's great!!! I've always wanted one but was afraid they sucked up too much electricity. $5./month is not bad!

I'm a little green over here. Can't wait till we've got the house to where we can get one. Don't have the freezer space to do the "cook in larger batches and freeze" thing as much as I'd like......and I'd really like to buy a quarter cow rather than grocery store beef.

Good for you Constance. It sounds like a great deal. I love our freezer, I can bulk shop and save lots of money. We did not really have a good place to put ours so I had to bite the bullet and put it in my dining room. It does not look pretty in the dining room but the trade off for money saved and convenience makes it worth it.

It sounds like a great freezer! I've had my feelers out looking for a used one for quite some time now, but I haven't had any luck either.

I think it's great that you are getting one. I live in an apt. now, but in a few years when/if we buy a home I will definitely consider one. My mother has one at her house and she loves hers

I cringe a little about you financing it, even if it is "no payments for a year", but that's just my own obsession with not having debt.
A new freezer is way exciting, though! Hubby and I are looking heavily into getting a little freezer to put in the pantry so that we can stockpile meat when it's on sale and whatnot.

AWESOME!!! Also, if you haven't already--check to see if Sears or Lowe's has the same exact model b/c if they do (and it's an in-stock model), HD will meet and beat the competitor's price.

Interest (on HD cards) is 21% so make sure you pay it off before the year is up or you get hit with the interest and it's ugly.

Congatulations on your new freezer!! I agree that you will save alot of money by stocking up on good sales...I would be totally lost without mine..If you have a Shoprite they have really good sales on meat starting Sunday..And of coarse no one can look over the fact that meat is going to increase in price real soon..I've mentioned this on another thread that if you have a foodsaver that is a real goldmine in it's self..I have one and can personally say that they really do prevent freezer burn as well as keeping meat fresh for 3yrs..they say that it can preserve your meat up to 5 years but I've never kept meat long enough to know..Anyhow I'm glad for you and have fun stocking it up on those good sales..

The first big purchase my DH and I made after we were married was a freezer. I'm sure it's saved us a ton of money over the years.
