Default TMNT party--help!

Both of my boys are having teenage mutant ninja turtle birthday parties this month and considering I've never seen one of those movies, I need help! Has anyone seen it and, if so, can you think of any cool party activities? TIA

how old are they? i was thinking if they are young, you could get that fun foam stuff and cut out "Turtle shells" for the kids to decorate and make their own TMNT character costumes...just shells in a shade of green, they could color details onto with crayon on the fun foam, and maybe have the "eye covering bandana things" they wear as well.

Yay, the heros in a half-shell!!! I LOVED the Ninja Turtles when I was younger -- I'm actually interested to see the new movie!

I don't know how old they are, but off the top of my head, here's some thoughts:

For games:

~ give them paper plates and crayons and let them make Ninja Turtle masks.
~ Get a piece of paper and write a special mission on it for them -- it could be a hunt for something, or chores, or anything you can come up with. Tell them Splinter (that's the rat that the Turtles live with) has a special mission for them and he wants them to do this chore. But remind them to "practice the art of invisibility" -- Splinter teaches the Turtles to be silent and swift and never be seen. So hopefully that'll motivate them to be quiet while they play.
~ If you could get ahold of a large cardboard box, you could let them make a Turtle van, which was a really neat toy on the show.

For food:

~ You absolutely must serve pizza. That's what the Turtles eat -- that's all they eat, all the time. Pizza pizza pizza.
~ You could also serve "sewer water" for a drink, because they live in the sewers.
~ If at all possible, try to make the cake look like a pizza too. Or get a DQ ice cream pizza, that'd be good too.

For a party favor, you could print off some of these pictures and let them take a couple each home with a little box of cheap-o crayons from the dollar store and their TMNT mask.

Hope that helps! I'd advise against any type of weapon-like toy, except maybe something like giving them all cardboard tubes for staves or something. The Turtles did a lot of fighting on the show and you could end up with bruised little boys if there's any type of fighting toys involved.

Default I didn't know

that the Ninja Turtles were still cool!! Ha! I remember my son being into the Ninjas way back when! Too funny! Cardboard tubes that they decorate (like the kind you get wrapping paper on) are fairly safe and yes - There is a lot of "sword" fighting and yes on the pizza! LOL!! What fun!!

my son went to one a few weeks ago and they had turtle masks and pizza of course. but since the turtles are 'ninja' turtles, my friend took balsa wood and cut it into small boards, drew various turtles on them and had the boys break them karate style. i thought it was a pretty neat idea and the boys loved being able to break boards with their hands or even over their heads.
