Update on the neighbors
Maybe someone can answer police-y question
turned in all sorts of vehicle descriptions, etc. Nothing has happened yet.
they pulled two of their cars out of their yard and parked em in mine in order to pull out a car by means of tow truck. the two truck moved their broken car out of their yard and hit my retaining wall. they tehn moved theor other cars out of my yard back inot theirs and the tow truck driver took off. the police didn't show up. when i called. it wasn't a priority and the weather was such that there was a blizzard watch, so they had bigger fish to fry i guess.
called insurance co about the ret wall but without a police report there isn't much i can do.

Can't the police still come and make a report? When I had damage to my car they came and made a report even though it was after the fact. I needed it for my insurance company.

DH (a cop) is here and he says the police should still be able to take a report a few days after the fact, unless there's some unusual factor. I'd call and see if they'll come out, especially since you did call that day. If you called 911 they will have it on record that you called that day.
DH also says that the police probably have a file going on the neighbors and are investigating, but you may not see any immediate results. They may be building up to bigger charges or whatever.
DH is going back to the other room now.... LOL. HTH!

Thanks Amy and julie! I didn't realise i could call again and get a report after the fact... i thought it had to be the very minute.
The weather hasn't been cooperative so i understand that they couldn't come right away. cold status reporting or something like that thye call it here.~~ Missy ~~

If you got the logo or name of the tow truck co and the license plate, you will be OK. It may be your word against theirs, but if it is a "real" towing co, they will have a record of the call to your neighbors house. I would give all the info to your insurance co, but also make a call directly to the tow truck company . Tell them they damaged your property and you would like the name of their liability insurance carrier. Tell them they can give it to you....or to the police and your insurance company when they go after them to collect. Also, I presume in CO any vehicle needs minimum liability insurance coverage so they will have to show evidence of insurance to a police officer anyway, and then you would get the info also. I would snap some photos as well.

The police don't have to come to you, you can go to the police station to file a report yourself.
Why can't we choose our neighbors???!! How about we put yours & my neighbors together and we live next to each other?

Hehehee - I think some of y'all been around long enough to remember this, we need to banish the bad neighbours from hell, the mother in laws from hell and murphy to the same deserted island so they can all live a happy life - STUCK TOGETHER!!

Sorry to hear about the damaged wall though - but I would've jumped right out there taking pics non stop of the tow truck, what they were towing and the damage to the wall after theyve left. Even so, just take pics now to document it all. My digi cam has a movie/video recording capability, it may be short time frame but it still works wonders when need be. Technology these days eh?
I hope the police file the report with you and you can get this documented for your case.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

I called them right after the post, they came and took a report. The tow truck dind't have a logo, but it did have a lisence plate. Out of habit now I jot down all the plates i see go to that neighbors hopuse. so i had that one. now i can turn in my info to the insurance company and they can deal with it.
