I am not in NY but in PA, and also of schools have closed today or are getting out early due to flood and icy conditions. I keep checking the local news station for updates as to my daughters school district being closed early, so far nothing yet.

We had some area schools close this morning due to the power going out. We had A LOT of rain last night. Now we're just having to deal with the horrible winds, gusts of up to 70 MPH. Scary. Stay safe.

Have you thought of just going and picking her up anyway? I would.. so you aren't traveling the roads when the conditions are worse later..

We are getting snow/sleet here. The snow is wet and heavy and causing lots of ponding and flooding in places. The roads are pretty bad between the slush and the standing water. Many schools have closed in my area and thankfully I only have to drive a few miles this evening to volunteer at the cat shelter.

We have several inches of snow & it's still coming down. Schools closed, except for daughters college. It is at a lower elevation, very little snow, it was raining down there when we took her to class. The weather for next 3 days is calling for rain/snow, bet there will be flooding problems in the southern tier. Especially if all this small melts with more raining coming down!
we are south of Rochester, North of Bath

we are having horrible wind. it wasn't too bad this morning, but i'm glad i made the kids wear their heavy coats as it had just gotten worse as the day has gone on. they were a little late getting home today, i'm guessing because of the bus having to becareful in teh wind. was going to go to the pet store to get something for the dog, but it will wait till tomorrow. hopefully the wind will die down by then. ran my errands this morning before it got bad.

We live along the Schoharie Creek(it's my front yard & I call it a river... are hoping it stays within it's banks. Watched trees, yes whole trees float by today)Lalala
So far our septic system isn't working & we rented a porta potty which is set up in front of our front door. (mentioned it in another thread)
Not sure how much rain you've had and hope it ends soon. Warm weather & no rain on the way, hang on! Supposed to get into the 50's &60's & clear for the weekend.
Heading out to the porta party and it's 38º, yeehaw!

It is terrible hear as well in Maine, particularly on the coast. Downed trees, winds 70 mph in my area, roads flooded & closed, lots of power outages. A couple of deaths reported as well. The ground is saturated so tree roots are weakened as well and trees are falling down every where. My work closed early so people could get home....( my work is impacted due to weather so we will be busy this week). I was very lucky ( so far)...I was crossing my fingers on the drive home. Had some tree branches in the yard and lost one shingle on the garage, but I picked it up and think I can patch it this summer. And my power is still on, so it could be worse.
