How Was The Question Popped?
How did your SO pop the question? On one knee, hidden in the dessert at dinner, written in the sky, on Valentine's Day, in casual conversation, etc?

He came on vacation with my family to Hawaii, so we were on wakiki beach...he said "what would you say if I asked you to marry me?" It was kinda a "duh" moment - I have always told him that the beach could have been so romantic, but he kinda killed it with the way that he said it - oh well, we have been married for nearly 15 years - so all is well!

day after christmas, he dragged me to our basement "apt" at his parents, fumbled around and kind of shoved the box at me. LOL, he was a wreck. He asked I accepted and he said...cool. LOL looking back it was sweet and romantic in its own way.

I just got off working the night shift in my job and wrote a letter to him telling him how i was so glad to find love again after a goofball very short marriage. I put the letter in a book I knew he'd be reading later in the day. He read it & thought about it as I slept and when I awoke we spent the day together sailing/ having fun and later in the day before dinner we talked about things & he asked me to marry him.
That was in May of 1984.

I had moved back to my home country after 10 months of dating him. We were chatting online and he popped the question, to which I answered "I"M NOT DOING THIS ONLINE!!" and closed my cmputer. So he called me the next morning and asked again.
This was six years ago, we've been married for 4 1/2.

I don't really remember. How horrible is that? I don't think he officially asked. We just sort of went from casual encounters
to "when we get married..."

Uh...I said, "So you want to get married?" And he said, "Okay." We were married 6 months later.

My man was facing some financial tightness (the dufus never changed his withholdings (W-2) after his divorce). He finally confided in me the sources of his stresses as he realized how much money he would owe at the end of the year. And toward the end of our serious indepth conversation he called me over to sit on his lap and said that if I could listen to all of that and not judge and still come up with a plan to work out the finances with him that I was worthy of being his wife. Of course and if we married that year, he would still get the tax break of being married....just to a different person! LOL So our joke is that "I'm the tax break and my dowry was the refund."

My DH never really asked either. We dated for 9 years, and then we just kind of agreed to go ahead and get married in Jamaica. I really wish I had a sweet romantic story though!

Well I guess I might be one of the few to have a picture perfect proposal. We were celebrating our 1 year dating anniversary. We were in a very nice Bed and Breakfast in front of the cozy fireplace with a glass of wine. I was sitting in the chair relaxing he comes over gets on knee and asks me. VERY ROMANTIC!!!

Well, as dh tells the story, the day began with him waking up in the morning and deciding that he absolutely could not spend another day without knowing that I was going to be his wife. So, he called in sick to work and went to the jewelry store. (He had been saving up, unbeknownst to me) He spent about an hour picking out my ring. Then, he came over to the house I was renting. I was exercising and was all gross and sweaty and was surprised to see him. He told me that he had bought me a present. I used to have a NYRangers hockey player keychain, but had lost it, so I open up this box and there is a new keychain. I thought it was soooo sweet and said, "Oh, thank you! I love it!" He said, "It was pretty expensive." Then I got annoyed and started railing at him for spending a lot of money on a keychain. He kept looking at the keychain, and it was only then that I looked again at the actual metal circle and saw that there was a diamond ring hanging from it. (It's platinum, so it blended with the silver.) Then, he got down on his knee and said some sweet, wonderful things and asked me if I would do him the honor of becoming his wife. I was absolutely, 100% surprised. I knew that eventually it would happen, but we had been dating for 3 years and I knew that when he was ready, he'd do it. I had no idea he was there! I, of course, said YES, and the rest is history! We got married a year later in 1998 and have been nothing but happy.
