Who Was/Is Your Favorite TV Married Couple?
For me, I would have to say Carl and Harriett Winslow on Family Matters (Steve Urkel's show). I loved how real they seemed. Carl was overweight, balding, at times a bit egocentric, deeply devoted to his wife, cheap, and always trying to push his son to be better. Harriett was quick-witted, not a tiny woman, but not obese, not a gorgeous woman but not ugly, had a human voice, didn't mind telling you what she thought, ballsy, a great mom, proud of her kids and clever as all get out. They seemed so perfect for each other and their marriage and relationship was very real. When the had problems, they would fight it out, and storm off, then cool down and hash it out. They were a real TV couple.

Hmmm --- I loved the grandma/grandpa on the Waltons. . . and the way they wrote her stroke into the story line. I also loved the mom/dad on there too. It was pretty much the way my mom/dad were raised.
More recently -- I liked Cliff and Clare Huxtable from the Cosby show-- they made me laugh. . . they had their spats, made up. . . raised their kids to be responsible people. . . and did it with humor, mistakes, etc.

The couple on "Still Standing". They reminded me a lot of my DH and I.

Sunshine,
I was thinking the same people the Waltons......more the Mom and Dad though......grandpa I liked, but I thought the grandma could be kinda mean sometimes.

I didn't watch "Friend" when it was on primtime and girls tried so hard to get me to watch this show. Well recently I have been watching the re-run and I don't watch much TV but this show cracks me up...so Moncia and Chandler Bing are my favorite. Next would be Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.

Doug and Carrie... I thought of them, too. Theirs is more like a real marriage even though it's a sitcom- sometimes they argue, they have to deal with difficult in-laws, etc.
My other choice was Debra and Ray Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond".
I think DH and I are more like Ray & Debra.

Rosanne & Dan Connor on Rosanne.
and
Ray & Debra on Everybody loves Raymond.
They are just more real life to me. Not idealized and just all-around more believable

Rosanne and Dan are my favorite, seems they have their ups and downs like any normal family but get right back up, sorta sounds like my family.
