Children's Charities
I am interested to donate to a Children's Charity that provides books for needy children. I think every child should have books to read.
Do any of you donate to such a charity or know of a reputable one. I did a Google search, but I wasn't sure which would be a good one.
I would appreciate any help you could give me as I have felt a burden for quite awhile to donate to such a charity.

Dolly Parton has such a charity. She has donated hundreds of books to children. Give me a few days to dig out the infor. I've got an article about her work in a book here.
There is also a lady by the name of Joann Cayce in Arkansas who works with the very poor. She'd love to have a pile of childrens books to add to Christmas baskets. I have an address for her also.
Likewise Connie "the Wimamima mama" who deals with the child of field works here in Florida. She works with a Lutheran run daycare that always needs more supplies.
Susan at the Cherokee Indian Res. Head Start Program spread poor governement money over 3 centers. She'd be happy to take them too.
The Navajo Lutherna Mission in Rock Point, Arizona always has a need for childrens books and items.
When I clean out places I ship stuff to many different groups. God is always sending moneies my way in order to cover the cost of postage. DH has also driven loads of items to places.

If you have a Half-Price Books near you they collect books to give away, often to children's hospitals. Sorry I don't know of any other. Our church gives away lots of items, maybe a local church can direct you to children with such a need?

I have a great one. It's called First Book--their site is www.firstbook.org.
When my dad died we requested donations be made to them in lieu of flowers.Mom to two crazy boys

You can also always donate them to a local school or at a low income school. I'm sure the kids would love'em!
