    Default Need some opinions...

Ok, so I've recently graduated from college and I'm looking for a job. I had an interview the other day and it went well. They said "impressive" about 10 times. Anyway, my first question is...

When you go to an interview and you think it did well, is it better to tell yourself youve got the job, or you didn't get it, or remain in the middle? Mt MIL told me I should just assume I have it, but I feel I'd be incredibly disappointed if I didn't.

Also, the job is in the next town over. I don't drive so we'd have to move. Do you think that its too soon to be planning all this, since I don't even know if I got it yet?

    Thanks

Well, first take a deep breath, I would not count on getting the job, but I would have a plan in my mind, just in case, of course, that I did. I would also, send a follow up thank you note to the person who interviewed you, thanking for taking the time to interview you, and thanking them for explaining the details and expectations of the job, something in that manner. Also, did they tell you a time fram of notification on whther or not you will be hired? If not, I would make a follow up phone call if you are really interested in the job. Also, don't stop looking for other jobs, In the meantime continue to apply and interview for other jobs. Things will work out. You have to dream big, and go sell yourself, and your qualities that will make the employers company better. I hope that I made a bit of sense. Anyway, good luck, I hope everything works out for you.

Buckeye5 is right on. Don't take action but have a plan. I have been in situations where I have made it through 4 or 5 interviews with a company only to get the "sorry we are going with another candidate" letter. There have also been jobs where I thought I blew the interview (like my current job) but they offered it to me.

I've sent a thank you letter. They said theyd get back to be in a week or so after they finish their interviews. See that's what I thought. But of course, friends and family, they want to encourage, so all I've been hearing is "oh you've got that job"...but really, how do they know...lol

Even if you were SURE you had it, things can fall through - like they get a budget cur and have to do without anyone in that position. Consequently, I always hope it comes through but proceed as it it had not - keep applying for other positions and keep your options open until you have a definite offer.
