Talking Update on dh's new job

It is definitely going to be a direct hire. The position was originally posted through a temp agency. It was going to be a temp-to-hire position, where dh would work for 90 days for an hourly wage then if they liked his work he would be offered the permanent position on salary.

Apparently, the owners were so impressed with dh that they are skipping over the whole temp-to-hire thing and doing a direct hire. Which means dh gets a salary, plus a percentage of the store's sales per week, plus a percentage of his sales per week (as manager, he's only expected to do 4-5 sales per week just to 'keep in touch' with what's going on on the floor).

Well, the temp agency is throwing a fit. They want $12000 from the furniture store company if they are going to direct hire dh. There is a flat fee of $5000 that the temp agency is supposed to get from the furniture store for finding dh for them. But they want $12000. From what I can gather they want this because if dh were to be temped and get an hourly wage, the temp agency would get any commissions dh would have made. The owner of the furniture store does not want any of dh's commissions to go to the temp agency. He wants dh as a permanent employee and he wants to be done with the temp agency and he's NOT paying them $12000.

It's kind of neat that this man is basically fighting for my husband. Because direct hire is not only better for the furniture store, it's better for us too. Not only more money, but better stability too.

Anyway. He's starting sometime next week. They just need to iron out the details because the owner would like to be there to walk dh through his first few days. This is a little difficult because the owner is based in a city about 2-3 hrs away from here.

I'm just so excited to be able to have a routine again
