Default Would you sell or not?

I have a book that was signed by a President. I honestly am not much into this kind of thing but when my children were much younger we were invited to a political dinner and we talked with the President. He signed a book for us and I was cleaning off a bookshelf and found it. I did some research on the internet and I think I could sell it for $500+.

Would you hold onto it or would you sell it?

If you admire the man, I'd say keep it. If not, I'd auction it -- with a reserve.

I agree with kimmie, unless someone in your family REALLY wanted it.

Also, only sell now if you REALLY need the money. Don't know which president you're referring to but in some cases the book might be worth much more in the future and since you just found it in your bookshelve, it doesn't matter if you wait a couple of more years before you sell it.

It would depend on which president had signed it as to whether I would sell or not.

I agree with the above posts: If it was a man I admired, I'd keep it. If not - I'd enjoy the money.

I guess I am thinking that if you dont need the money now then wait a few more years as it might be worth more then, but if you need the money then sell it but set it with a reserve price.

I'm terrible, but I'd sell it in a heartbeat, no matter who signed it. The money could go into savings and it would be one more bit of unused clutter out of the house. Who needs a $500 book you're so little attached to you even forget you have it? Yeah, you could wait, and that's probably good advice, but I SO love getting rid of stuff .. I would be very impatient to let it go live with someone who appreciated it!

I am going to think about it for a while longer. I don't really "need" the money. I am really trying to get rid of lots of stuff. I have hundreds of books, tons of prizes I won that I was trying to win a different prize in the sweepstakes, and just too much stuff in general.

I have planned to spend the summer cleaning and selling on eBay anything worth anything. The money will go into my new window fund so I may just decide I would rather have new windows. I need $5000 for my windows.
