    Default I could just scream

I need to come up with a big amount of money by the 31st. Seems the morgage company didn't pay the property tax a few years back. I thought it was resolved, but apparently not. Now the city wants the money by the 31st or they are going to put it up as a lien sale. I am having a fit. the total is about 800. (late fees and incrued interest) I am freaking out.

I don't wanna lose the house. I was told i could deal with the mortgage co and get it resolved. they said they'd take 6 weeks to research it etc. That won't work. the 31st is sooner than that.

I need help, and i don't know where to go. We can't take out a loan, our credit is shot even though we've been working on it hard paying stuff off etc. we'd pay it back but our word vs our credit doesn't help us at the bank. Family can't help, we're all paying for my mom's health on my family's side, and on DH's side, they're all as broke as we are.

I need help. I don't know what to do or where to go.

Hubby is looking for PT work. I am too. Stressin hard.

We're planning a yard sale to try and get some money for some stuff we need. We've moved twice in the past 6 months, so we've had to keep downsizing our stuff. Maybe you could do a yard sale to try and raise money. Usually we make about $200 when we do one. Don't throw away what doesn't sell. Pack it back up for the next yard sale. Keep an eye on freecycle and craigslist for free items that you can pick up and stash for a yard sale too! Ask friends and family if they have anything you can sell for them and keep a small portion. Etc.

I agree maybe a yardsale or sell some stuff through ebay, that's the quickest way to get cash fast. That's how I usually do things. Wishing you lots of luck and sending good vibes and prayers.

So sorry to hear this news Missy. I will say a prayer for you.

Can you list somethings on e-bay for neighbor's, friends, relatives and others that you know and keep like a 30% commission? That is what the local e-bay store in our area does.

    Thinking of you.

BIG HUGS MISSY!! I am sorry you are going through such a stressful time! Can the mortgage company work with you quicker if they understand the urgency of the situation? They should be the ones resolving this for you, since it is their mistake. In the meantime, is there something you can sell? Maybe you can do some babysitting in your home? (check want ads for people looking for childcare in your area).

Please keep us posted ~ you'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

Desperate times call for desperate messures?.Maybe you can take some things to the pawn shop, go to one of those check cashing places, or get a loan against your car. I know its high interest and risky but if there is no other way then I dont see any other choice. Try day labor. IF you have any credit availble on any credit cards now is the time to use it.

I want to cry for you becuase I know that if this was happening to us we would be in the same spot.

hi missy - i don't know what your car is worth, but could you sell it and straight away buy a cheaper one, but leaving enough to pay the bill? or sell some of your large appliances and then buy cheap second hand ones to replace them maybe?

    good luck with it!

Good luck, Missy! I also think the yard sale/selling items a good idea. Personally, I would not go to one of those check cashing places, though, from what I understand you end up in a never-ending payment cycle with them. Also, see if your DH might be able to get a part-time pizza delivery job. Tips are usually pretty good doing that. (My DH works for a large pizza chain/restaurant) Let us know what happens, we're pulling for you.

Oh no, that sucks! Can you call up previous customers and see if they want to place an order? There's $30 in your home improvement fund that can go toward it. Good luck selling some stuff to raise the cash. ((HUGS))

Go to Craig's list and look under the "gigs" section--on our local list, there are usually some odd jobs that just last for a day, etc. Also, is cleaning other people's houses an option? Can you advertise a parent's night out(you babysit the kids on a Friday or Saturday night)?

Good luck! The city isn't willing to work with you at all? It's $800--you would think that it would be cheaper for them to work out a payment plan and/or just take a loss than to foreclose and put it up for sale.

i am gonna call them again tomorrow, both the mortgage company and the county clerks office (where they have been dealing with me) and i will again plead my case and see if someone in either place will offer an option.

I am scared to death. I don't wanna lose our house. So far I have scratched up 50. It's a start. 1/16th the way there.
