Default How organized is your money?

In the past week, I've found about $5.00 in the laundry (this was a mix of ones and change). Although it's a nice little perk to doing the laundry, it's made me realize how unorganized I am with it and I'm going to start my own change jar.

I have a wallet and the majority of cash I carry is in there, but I guess lately I've been a bit messy with it.

Anyone else have this problem? I was just thinking that I could probably scrounge up atleast $10 by going thru pants pockets, and the bottom of my purse where all the change winds up. I'm gonna go try it--I'll let you know what I come up with and we can all be appalled at how irresponsible I am with my money! LOL!!

    Red face

Found $3.22 in my coats and pants. That brings my new change jar total to $8.73. I was totally excited when I found a $20 in one pair of jeans, but then I realized this was grocery money that never made it back into the grocery envelope.

Ours is very organized. One of the perks of being married to a CPA is he is very aware of every penny. He tracks where everything spent or saved goes. If I get fifty or a hundred out of the bank, I let him know $xx went to A.C. Moore, $xx went to grocery store, $xx went to the change container etc...

All of our loose change goes into a container, once there is enough to make a roll ($10/quarters, $5/dimes etc..) it gets rolled and put in a special box. I keep whatever cash I may have in my wallet and he does the same. If he has coins in his pocket he puts them in the container at the end of the evening. We rarely keep a great deal of cash though. We use the debit card for almost all purchases.

I keep some cash in my billfold in my purse. Change goes into the sorter when i come home. Any occasional $50 dollar bill gets put in my secret stash .... wish I had more of them! I try not to carry too much on me because I need to put it in the bank. And if I don't have it, I won't spend it.

We generally don't carry around cash, and just use the debit card for everything. So in a way I think my money is very unorganized, because I don't pay close attention to how much I need to spend and how much I really do spend.

My money is organized, dh and kids not so organized, but I rather like the tips they leave me in their pockets when I do laundry.

Wow I luck out often like some of y'all do! I should put it in my siggy as well but its not mine to keep Aww shucks!

BF will be over and he'll just empty his pockets wherever, wallet, keys, change and all. He picks up the wallet, keys etc but never the change. I just scoop it up and toss it into a small peanut container (you know the snack kind - planters etc). So far I have two full I should count it and hide it and claim it for a rainy day activity for us both eh?

What I dont get is how he just doesnt care for change, even mocks me when I stop to pick up pennies! He needs them looneys, twoonies and quarters to do laundry but even those get abandoned too. *scratches head*

The past couple of months, my husband and I have been using cash to pay for everything. Since we have gone to this method, we are keeping our cash all in one central location. Now, all of our money is accounted for and we don't really have any loose money laying around.

I have a deep zippered pocket on the outside of my purse where cash, receipts, cards, etc go. After a shopping expedition I empty it out when I enter the receipts in the computer. Change goes in a tin on the desk; I roll it when I have enough and take it in on the next bank trip to exchange for "real money." But I don't use much cash either; I use my reward cc. I know this is the opposite of what everyone says is true, but I spend much more freely when I have cash than when it's going on the card since I am always very aware of the monthly budgeted amount for the card. Cash feels too much like "free money" that I don't have to account for as closely! The cc has a day of reckoning each month when I have to pay it off....

Currently, I couldn't tell you what we have. After arriving home from our mini trip, I have yet to sit down and figure up the checkbook. I know I have change floating around the house because I keep seeing it. I have done two loads of laundry and each time have found some extra change. I love when my family pays me to wash. LOL!
