As of yesterday ( Saturday) we have...
enough wood to heat thru next winter. All of it free. That little trailer we bought a month ago has already paid for itself. Dh is going to spend today and next weekend cutting and stacking as next weekend is ods graduation. He says after that he will continue to get wood from various free sources as we have a carport and the only thing underneath it is the outside trash cans. He wants to fill the carport up with free wood for the following winter

Free is always good. That is awesome that you are ready for next year already.

It's amazing what you can get for free if you are able to haul it yourself. We have a small utility trailer that we use for small hauling, and Dh and BIL built a hefty roll back trailer themselves to haul cars and trucks on, so we will never have to pay for wrecker services again.
Thankfully, we have plenty of free firewood available on our property, but having it cut and stacked, ready for the next winter season is such a wonderful feeling. A few months ago, DH traded an old riding mower for a wood splitter. We love it! I was thinking I could sell some split wood for extra $$. Half a cord runs about $80 over on the islands.

Great news! It really does make you feel wonderful knowing that you are ready ahead of time. Finished our wood pile a few weeks ago & we just keep staring lovingly at the neatly stacked wood often, lol.
