    Default Tip Jar

Yesterday I told my husband I was starting a "tip jar". The rules are as follows:

Everytime he or I say "I hate this" or "You never do this" or any other type of nagging, we have to put a dollar in the jar.

Everytime one of us calls the other a name (like jerk or something) we have to put a dollar in the jar.

When we get into an argument, we both have to put a dollar in.

When I told him he said, "We won't have any money left if we do that!"

We don't have any really marriage problems, but we've only been married for a year, and he can really be a nag sometimes. He gets frustrated easily, and I get very defensive. We tend to have small arguments almost every day. I'm hoping this jar experiment will cut down on the arguing. We also need to learn to phrase things more postively. For example, instead of saying "I hate how messy the computer desk is," we could say "We should clean and organize the computer desk together when we have some time." I really hope this helps, if it doesn't, we can just use all the money we put in the jar for a marriage counselor! Haha!!

What a neat idea! Though I'd lose my money fast, he never calls me names or nags at me. LOL

I don't get called names either, but he does nag, so it'd be about equal.

Great idea! We hardly ever argue, but we got into a doozy of one the other evening. Glad we didn't have a tip jar then, it probably would've cleaned out our bank account.

I basically got the idea from someone I know who has a "swear jar", except we don't swear, we just argue.

We could use it to go out on date night. (Hopefully without any arguing!)

My grandparents had a tip jar. They put $1 in theirs every time they had sex, throughout the whole marriage. When the jar got full they put the cash in the bank. With this money when they retired they bought an RV....did some traveling, and then bought 2 houses in Florida.

Wow!! That's a lot of sex, haha!

Unfortunately for me, if we did a tip jar based on how often we had sex it would be pretty empty!

We haven't put any money in it yet, because we've run a little low on cash. But if we were keeping track, I probably would have put $20 in last night alone!
