Well, I wanted to lose weight!
I guess I will be, with gas prices going over $3 an hour, that puts my food budget at $20 a week. Looks like BOGO cereal is going to be the staple of my cupboard.
Well, maybe it will motivate me to get off my butt and start that summer garden, and dig out those canning jars! LOL

Hi Jaded, I think that you meant to say gas over $3 a gallon not an hour.
How many people are you feeding for the $20 in your grocery budget per week?
Here are a few suggestions for you for things to include in your $20.00 food budget. Ground turkey $1.00 a lb., Canned pasta sauce $1.00 or less a can.,Pasta cheapest type less than $1.00 a pkg., puffed rice or puffed wheat cereal .88 a pkg., oatmeal (not the flavored variety), 1/2 gal. skim milk $1.60,
eggs $1.30 dozen, wheat bread $1.50 loaf, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, bananas and margarine.
These are just a few ideas of some foods that you can buy and have a little variety.
I know that all of the price increase can make you feel like this
, but you just have to do the best that you can. Maybe even visit a food bank.

there are not aldis in california that i know about.or lots of other places. ground turkey is about 3 bucks about here too at its cheapest ( i live in kern county, cali)

Gas prices can put a pinch on a lot of things. Are there any other places you can cut back instead of food (like cable, entertainment, phone, ect).
We are paying about $3.50-$3.53 a gallon right now, so we have changed our extra stuff around a bit to accommodate.Last edited by cebsme; 05-24-2007 at 06:00 PM.

Oh, I thought you meant you'd be losing weight because the gas prices are forcing you to walk instead of drive.
