Red face Oh joy of joys!

My daughter is friends with the richest little girl in her class, so Eleni and her planned a play date, at their house today at 3:00! I have no idea what to talk to the parents about! HELP!!!! I'm a nervous wreck! We were going to meet at the park, but they said to come to their house. Any advice?????

    Smile Be yourself of course

Talk about how much money you save vs. their spending

Seriously, just be yourself and allow this an opportunity for yourself to make a new friend!

    Have fun!!

You will do fine Julie, just be yourself and you will win them over quickly with your sweet personality. I bet they are just as nervous as you, but you already have one thing in common, the girls , just start the conversation by talking about yoru daughters and how much they enjoyed school this year and how happy they are to have become friends, ect....
Don't worry, it will all be fine and you won't be there alone, you will have all the Village angels sitting on your shoulders, if you get nervous just peek at your right shoulder and I will be sitting there with my red cape on making funny faces at you to make you smile.

My daughter has a lot of friends who have quite wealthy parents. I talk to them just like I would anyone else. They aren't weird or anything. We talk about our kids usually. Or one day we were talking about DH's job (he is a police officer). We've never talked about anything money related.

So, that went well! We ended up going to the park. Her mom and dad came, they are younger than me (but who isn't), they were pretty friendly. Eleni's friend is definitely coming for the birthday party! YAY!

See, you can do it! Whenever this happens keep the conversation light and complimentary - "what a sweet little girl you have" "Do you know what teacher she'll have this year?" "Do you know of a good Italian resteraunt in the area?" If they have roses in the front yard-"This weather has been so ____, it's doing ___ for my roses". Anything neutral and pleasant, at least until you know them better.
    Welcome to my world!
