Please Pray For My DH Who Has Lost His Sight
Last week my dh was rushed to the emergency room and was diagnosed with diabetes. His blood sugar level was 580 which is pretty high. He was given insulin and released with a prescription for pills. A few days later although his sugar dropped to between 80 and 100 most times, he has since lost his sight. He went to see a opthamologist who says my husband has 20/30 vision beneath what has happened. He feels the sharp blood sugar drop is what is causing the vision problems and that over the next several weeks my dh's sight will hopefully return to normal.
Dh is a truck driver and cannot work if he takes insulin or of course if his sight is not restored. I lost my job a year and a half ago. He is presently on sick leave and we are praying things return to normal very soon. The eye doctor also asked dh if anyone in his family has Glaucoma as he saw something in the back of dh's eyes that indicated he could have problems down the road from it. Dh's father is blind from Glaucoma. Still the doctor said dh needs to monitor the Glaucoma thing every year, that he is not in present danger. I was shocked at dh's response to the Glaucoma as when the doctor asked him if anyone in his family had it he loudly said," NO"! Knowing his father had it. I spoke up and told the doctor yes that dh's father was blind from it, and dh got mad with me. I suppose he is in denial.
We are frightened as to the events that are happening, and as to how this is going to affect dh's health and our finances. Please pray for us. Thanks.

I'll keep y'all in my prayers, Stacey. I had a patient that this happened to, and he did eventually regain his eyesight, but he did have to start taking insulin. Does your DH have a family history of diabetes?

Staceyy,
My Fiance went through the same thing ,but they never told him he could lose his sight. Said oh yeah we forgot to tell you it could happen like that.
He was driving home and all went black. He had just enough gray to see to get the last mile home driving 5 miles an hour on the side of the road.
They told him it would last about a month ( which it did ).
Once the sugar was stablized his eyesite came back.
He now takes a pill for his diabetes and is working full time traveling from Sears and KMart stores.
Its very scary and I know how you feel.
Hold on and Hugs to you both.
I'm here for you

Thanks so much for your prayers, Dh's father became diabetic when he was in his 70's. He lost his sight before the diabetes. I am diabetic but my sugar level has never been as high as dh's.

Diabetes is a very scary thing when its not been detected. Nows the time to start making lifestyle habit changes for the better. I hope he gets his eyesight back and can get his sugars under control...now that he knows he has to watch out for that.
But Im a bit confused as to why he cant work if he has to take insulin? Wouldnt it be alright once hes stabalized his blood sugar levels? If his work policy is that he cant be a truck driver b/c he's got diabetes, isnt that a bit of a no no with the employment discrimiation act or something like that? (I dunno the whole situation...I could be missing a huge chunk of info here)
Hope all gets back to what used to be the norm *HUGE HUGS*2012: The Year Of The Purge!
