Default Has anyone sold their car to Carmax?

I've had my car for sale for almost 3 weeks now and although I've had a ton of calls....it still sits

It's a 1997 Saturn SL2 with only 66K miles on it. It runs very well and everything works, although I recently found out that the compressor for the A/C could go at anytime. Knowing this, I dropped the price from $2800.00 to $2200.00 as I got estimates between $600-700 to have it replaced.

Anyway....I'm tired of trying to sell it privately as I'm having no luck and I'm thinking about bringing it to Carmax. I'm just wondering if they give you a half-way decent deal.

We did. I had a 99 Dodge Neon and we used it as a trade in and got a really good price on it. We still owed $2000 on it, they gave us $2600 on it, so the remaining $600 went for a downpayment on our van that we bought from them. We originally paid $7800 for the Neon, drove it for 4 years so I thought $2600 was a good amount to get for it.

I myself have never sold a car to them, however I have a friend who did. She had a Ford Explorer she was wanting rid of, not sure of the year. She actually got more for it from Carmax then she was going to sell it for herself. It doesn't cost anything to see what they will pay you for it, other then your time. I say run it up there and see what they have to say. I hope they offer you a decent amount for it so you don't have to deal with it any longer. Good luck.

We didn't make an appointment. We just went in. We actually were just there to look at minivans, but ended up trading in our current car and driving away in a minivan a few hours later. lol
