Do You Shred Your Mail?
I never really bothered shredding my mail until last year when I reported to you that my trash can filled with trash was stolen. I now always shred it. I usually save all my mail and shred it about once a month. I've heard of people saving the shred and using it for cat litter or for filler when mailing packages, but I just toss it. I'm curious as to how others handle this.

We don't shred ours. We don't have any credit cards, have opted out of all of the junk mail lists, and we keep our bank statements and mortgage statements. The only other mail we get are our utility bills, church bulletin, and magazines. I see no reason to shred the church bulletin, I send old magazines to my mom's office, and the only info on my utility bills is the same thing someone could get out of the phonebook.
When we do get the odd piece of mail that I do not feel comfortable about just trashing, I make sure it is destroyed beyond recognition. I hate shredders. My cat tries to fight it and I am afraid he will one day get hurt so I just leave it in the storage room.DD (19)

We shred anything that has our name on it or account info. Even the face or back of magazines and catalogues.

I shred everything I can so that the shreds can be used for kitty/puppy litter at my local animal shelter.

I shred anything that has an account number on it. I also shred any CC offers that come in the mail too. I even opted out of them and still get them from time to time...what is up with that?

We shred all of the stuff that has our name on it. We can't be too careful these days.

I used to shred everything but then our shredder stopped working. I now save everything in a big box and just burn it when we burn yard debris, which is usually every month since we have 5 acres and alot of trees and leaves.

Yes, I use my shredder. I normally don't save the shreds but have been thinking of using it for packing material.

We don't shred, but we do burn everything that could be used to steal identity or open a CC account... Scary world these days...

I shred only CC applications or anything with my info on it or offers of credit from any company. Other than those I usually just rip things up and throw it away.

I wish I had a shredder. Maybe for Christmas. We keep them in files for now but they are piling up.

I shred all business mail and solicitations with my name on it that I am not keeping. I got so tired of the avalanche of offers for cc's, insurance, etc, etc, I've opted out, and it is gradually slowing. Things like catalogs just get tossed.
