Help!
Please pray for me and my mom. She has just been admitted to the hospital by the ER. What she thought was "just a yeast infection" is apparently a new-to-her cancer that has eaten through the tissue to the colon, so she has had fecal matter collecting where none should be for several weeks. The situation is not thought to be imminently dire, but it is not good, and may be ultimately dire. I am headed over there (200 miles). I am taking my cats (I may NEED them). Appreciate your support.
Itsahumanzoo - I'm sorry, and I WILL get your package shipped next week!

Oh Edna, Im so sorry to hear this about your mom. Praying they have caught the cancer early and with treatment, all will be O.K.. My Aunt Crystal just had her last chemo treatment last Monday for colon cancer. She goes back in a few weeks to have a scan done to see if it's been effective. She has already had surgury and radiation.
You have a safe trip, and know that your mom and you are in my constant thoughts and prayers. Your kitties will be a great comfort to you. My Willie just seems to know when I need some kitty comfort and cheering up, and he's not shy about giving a good dose of rubs, licks and purr's.
Please keep us updated when you can and remember we are here for you.
(((Hugs)))

Ok, whew! I'm back home. Friday they FINALLY checked her into the hospital at about 2:30 am (actually, that would be Saturday wouldn't it?) They ran tests to clear her for surgery over the weekend, and we ran lots of errands. She had several (5) surgeries yesterday and they put her in ICU for a couple of days to be followed by a couple in IMC, and the remainder of 7-10 days in a regular hospital room - that was the plan, and then the surgery started an hour late and took 5 hours instead of the 1.5 - 2 they expected and they had to give her 2 units of blood. Soooo, I'm thinking extra time. Then I check at 6 this am, and she's not having much pain and they get her to a speaker phone that is not in her room (I'm astonished!) and I call at lunch and they've already released her from ICU to IMC as soon as a bed opens up because she is doing great! sooo, now I'm thinking less time, but don't know what to predict - but am VERY happy she is doing so well.
Meanwhile, boy was it NOT a frugal weekend! I know I could have done it tighter, but it really seemed wiser to try to ease things where I could (like getting new arch supports for my shoes when my legs ached from all the extra walking - and I needed them anyway, just not so desperately when not walking so much).
The cats were very supportive, and also of my sister and niece who were there. One of them fussed all the way home (okay, half way home but 100 miles is a lot of caterwauling!) about going to "grandmama's" and not seeing grandmama - I swear I think he knew the difference!
I'm going home to bed. Thank you all for your support and prayers and encouragement - I'm likely to continue needing them for some time, but at least the scary part is over.

I'll say a prayer Edna! I hope she recovers quickly. My Mom had a very similar situation. However it wasn't cancer. She had had a complete hysterectomy years ago. Her colon had a hole and it actually had made a path through the old scar tissue to come out vaginally. They said the fact it actually leaked likely saved her life.
Take care of yourself during this stressful situation also. Hugs@~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000
