Yesterday afternoon I turned the sprinkler on in my back yard but forgot I had my bedroom window open. So I was cleaning up the water mess, luckily nothing got soaked, just wet. Stuck my foot in a spider web under the little table on that side of the bed but this was a thick, sticky web.
Ut oh! Back away and grab a flashlight. Look under that table, and under the bed, and behind the nightstand on the other side of the bed. On the underside of the little table was FOUR egg sacs and under the bed against the wall was a smaller black spider. DH was home from work so I called for his help. I wanted to make sure I got that spider killed instead of attempting to kill it and miss and it runs away. Found some bug spray and killed it.
Let the cleaning begin! Pull out the little table, the nightstand and the garbage can in the corner and hurry-run them outside (dunno what is underneath!) Pull the bed away from the wall, drag everything thats under the bed out and vacuum like crazy. Clean the small furniture I brought outside and there is another smaller black spider on the underside of the garbage can! Thick sticky webs on the bottom and legs of everything and a few more egg sacs OMG.
Now those webs tell me they are black widows but they didn't look exactly like them and there was no red on them at all. I'm thinking they were males but then there are egg sacs?? We've been living in this house for over four years and this is a buggy house but this is the first time we've been invaded quite like this. The good news is that I got under the bed and that wall all cleaned out now. I am afraid to look in my closet LOL
DH and I are seriously considering dipping into the EF and hiring an exterminator.

OMG! I am glad you found all those egg sacs before they ALL hatched! YIKES!! I don't blame you for wanting to hire an exterminator. I believe I would be dipping in to the EF and doing just that....especially if they are black widow spiders.

What a relief to know all those little eggs did not hatch. I hope you don't find anymore. I HATE creepy crawlies and would have totally freaked out.
At our old house our exterminator came every three months and it was only $35 per visit since we had a contract with them and had been using them for years.
Oh my freaking goodness! I would have had a heart attack!!! Our old house had alot of spiders in it! YUCK!!! Glad you got the eggs, and I hope you don't see any more!

Living in the south, you have to deal with critters of all kinds, but spiders are my least favorite of them all. Oh, it's a blessing you found those eggs before they hatched. Each sac holds hundreds of spider runts.
