Long time lurker from CO

Hey everyone! I have lurked forever...actually just 2 1/2 years, but finally am stepping out of the shadows. I'm super reserved, so this is a stretch for me. You all are such a friendly and welcoming bunch, and have such a supportive network going. I have decided to jump in and say hey! I love getting on and reading everyone's posts and ideas.

I grew up in a very frugal household in eastern Nebraska. My Dad was a farmer and my mom a stay at home mom. We lived in a 1000 sq ft house with an outhouse till my dad remodeled the 1902 farmstead. There were 9 of us kids and 2 foster kids, so I learned at a young age to squeeze a penny till Abe cried uncle. We didn't have a lot, but we never went without...think Waltons. My husband is the son of a banker and I kid him that his folks financed his tricycle....but I'm not so sure it isn't true. He grew up not so frugal. So, we do duke it out from time to time, but I am slowly winning him over. Funny how opposites attract.

I found this site googling frugal or something like that and have been hooked ever since. I love being frugal and look at it as a game...gee its kinda sick, I know. We used to be debtfree completely, but just moved to CO and now have an opressive mortgage. So I wanted to join in and hold myself accountable. I have a goal to have the house paid off in 13 years, but I need to be accountable and work hard to make that happen.

We have 3 kids, all still at home, 2 dogs and 60 chickens. We live on 40 acres in the foothills along the northern frontrange of the Rockies. I am so happy to be rural again.

You all are such a great bunch. I am looking forward to being a part and contributing my thoughts and ideas as well.
