Exclamation Dh is at work, and a bird flew in the door!

How do I get it out? It is in dd's room (so funny, picture her screaming and running in there, then the bird follows, so she screaming runs back out!) Anyway, we shut the door, called dh, he said wait till he gets home. UM, he gets home at 6. Won't it poop all over?

I would run into her room and open a window wide open--does she have a window? Just like a bee, the bird will fly in the direction of sunlight. If she doesn't have a window, pull the shades in the other rooms, shut all other doors and open windows or the front/back door. The poor bird is more afraid than you are!

Yep just close her door & open the window.

I hate birds in the house!! We get them in occasionally though the wood stove. I would definitely close her bedroom door & open the window. Make sure there are no curtains flowing around the window.

Dh likes to use a broom to 'encourage' the bird out. I wouldn't suggest it...he's broken three brooms that way

Sometimes if you're making too much noise or too much of a precense in the area the bird will just find someplace to hide in the house. So I suggest leaving a window or a door open and leaving that room for an hour or so.

I learned the hard way! After a few hours of waving my arms, broom, anything that I could get my hands on I decided to rest for a while. When I left, the bird flew out!

I'm so sorry. We are more likely to get bats than birds here, and they cary rabies so you do NOT want to let them stay in your house. Can you let your daughter take a bubble bath to distract and quiet her (with the bathroom door closed so the bird won't go through that way)?

DH will be home in a few minutes, the bird is still in her room. DH and FIL will get it when they get here. The dog and girl are all calm at the moment. I'm getting too old for this.

I say open the window and leave the room and close the door behind you and give it some time, the birdie will fly out. Right now I bet the bird is more scared of you, than you are of him/her.

LOL, I'm coming in on the tail end of this adventure. Did you finally get the bird out of the house? I just calmly keep the bird moving around until it gets to tired to fly, and then I throw a pillow case or towel over it and pick it up and release it outside.

ROFL, you'd hate my house, lol. My birds are loose 75% of the time, lol. I don't know how to get one out...mine all migrate (get it?? bird pun) back to their cages come dark.

I would try one adult per side of a sheet. walk the sheet towards the bird, as high up in the air as you can get...like herding it out the house. if he hits the sheet it won't hurt him, and it won't be like swinging a broom around the house..posing a threat to you, your belongings, windows...etc.
