Well, she finished reading her copy of Harry Potter. DD got her copy a little after midinght. She and her brother took turns reading aloud to each other until about 3:00 am, slept until 8:30 and got back up. She did not start reading immediately because she had housework to do. She had been reading it most of the day though. She got it a little over 15 hours ago and is done.
She said it was good, but she was mad at J.K. Rowling. Guess it did not end how she had hoped.
We are going to take the book over to her boyfriend's house later today so he can read it.
How does everyone else feel about the way the story played out? Happy? Not so happy?Last edited by Neeley; 07-21-2007 at 04:02 PM.

Okay, I just finished it this afternoon. My son is VERY upset that I only read aloud through chapter 6 last night, and then read the rest on my own after he went to bed. LOL. Bad mama.
ANYWAY... Neeley, I don't know another soul in real life who has finished the book already. Your daughter and I would get along well, because once I start a book like this, I can't go to sleep till it's done! I found the book VERY dark and a little bit of a downer... but, ultimately, really uplifting. There were SO many sad parts to the book... but the saddest thing of all is that there aren't any more books coming!
Neeley, how did your daughter like the last chapter?
Anyone else out there who's finished it?

TINY SPOILERS. NO NAMES OF THE DEAD MENTIONED.
Neeley's DD here, Ma'am. I must say, I really enjoyed the last chapter and was chuckling must of the way through. (Neville as a Herbology Prof. Perfect!) I must admit, I was a bit skeptical when i saw the "NINETEEN YEARS LATER..." but wound up loving it. it was a fitting end for our friends at Hogwarts, and their children. I just wish it could have shown who Draco was married too.
(Lupin's kid "snoggin'" Ginny's neice. Brillant.
)
All in all, though, I agree. The book was nice, VERY dark, depressing at times, but very well done. The fact that Hagrid lived and so did McGonagall, who I wanting to all the time, did not die lifted my spirits a bit. Unfortunally...when a certain child (erm, teenager) died, though, I had to put book down for a moment.
One thing did make me wonder...what happened between the Dursleys and Harry? did they ever meet again? If so, Dudly wouldn't pick on him, right? Not after the whole "I don't think you're a waste of space" part in the second/third chap, right?
Sorry for the long post, I get carried away when talking about books.DD (19)

Okay, I just wrote a nice long reply to this, but now I'm thinking it belongs under the Harry Spoilers thread instead.
I'd hate to have someone stumble upon this and ruin their surprise!

Our library had a party and the local bookstore came and sold books at 12:01. I worked all day, so didn't have to go back and work the party too. Dss were gone, so I didn't have to take them!
I am halfway through--will probably finish it tomorrow or Tuesday.
