County fair----brag
So how many of you have county fairs? or attend them?
We had ours this past weekend it is 4 days long, 2 of my kids are in 4H so they show animals and have projects that they have made through out the year taken to this fair. Well ds got champion goose & reserve bird over all for it too, he also showed pigs and place 2nd in his class. Dd showed the same but placed under her db, but she showed cattel and stole the show!! She got grand champion mkt. steer along with grand champion breeding heifer, plus she took the jr. showman ship too. She has worked hard the last couple of months with these animals and deserved her reward for what she done, in all she got over 11 trophies, plaques and a $200 savings bond, she also won her division for sewing an outfit.
If your family is not into 4H check it out the kids have a great time and it is not all animal related!!Sandy

That is SO GREAT!!!!
A big, huge CONGRATULATIONS to your kids -- they did super!
We're also in 4-H, and our county fair was last week. Our 10yr old won grand champion poultry with his drake (I though ducks were tough to show, so I'm doubly impressed with your son showing a goose!). He brought home several trophies for projects, too. Our next 2 boys are Clover Kids, so they had fun doing lots of projects, too. The kids all had so much fun and learned a lot with their projects. Trophies or no, we think 4-H is just wonderful.
Our kids are thinking about showing cattle next year, so we'll see how that goes. Our 2nd son showed a goat this year as a Clover Kid, and he'll be showing her next year in the regular goat show. Our oldest may show our Jersey heifer, and they're both thinking about showing beef calves.
Again, congratulations to your kids!

Congratulations to them!!!! Our fair is so small, we go, but there really isn't anything there. The biggest thing here isthe boat races, and the Manatee Festival.

Congrats to both for all their hard work.
Our County fair is next month and usually lasts 10 days. It's HUGE and there is so much to do. You have to take atleast 2 days to see everything. With the rides, crafters, animal shows, music(usually 2-3 Big time acts play), stunt shows, native american village(complete with indian jewlery(I LOVE), where they eat and sleep there the whole fair and dress in Native clothing the whole time) very educational for the little ones, mini circus, petting zoos. Oh and can't forget the food. OMG I would go just for the food!!

Congratulations to them!!! That is wonderful.
We don't have a county fair, instead the state fair is here every October for 10 or 11 days. If we go it is only once, but I try not to go at all. Ours is way overpriced and it is not the most family-friendly atmosphere.DD (19)

Congratulations to both of them. Our county fair is not until Sept. We are one of the few agriculture fairs still around. What I mean by that is that their are no rides or the like just exhibits and shows. Of course we go over to Asheville to show cattle in the Mountain State Fair and then on to Raleigh in October for the State Fair. I think fairs are great. But I would love to go on a vacation that does not have animals involved and not have to get up a 5 or 6 every morning. LOL

Congratulations to your DS and DD! That's wonderful and I know they put in a lot of work with their animal. We don't have a county fair but we do have The Stock Show & Rodeo in our city where many kids from the area show their animals and can win big bucks. In fact, the grand champion steer during the last rodeo was auctioned off for over $100,000. (That's a lot of money for the kid that raised it!) The high school DD went to and DS will be attending is the Ag Program magnet for the school district, so we know a lot of kids who are involved and I've heard about the time and energy these kids put into raising their animals. You should be very proud of both of them, I bet they were thrilled!

Wow, that is awesome. Congrats to both of them! I was in 4-H and used to show hogs at the fair. Most people don't relize all the hard work that goes into showing farm animals. Their hard work certainly paid off!
