The whole this is symbolic of my mom.
The chickadee is small and seemingly delicate. Much like my mom, who at her prime was just 120 and 5'. The pinecone is tight and rigid at first. But after a while it opens spreading it's gifts all around. Much like my mom's heart. The green ribbon is the lymphoma awareness ribbon. She had two forms of lymphoma. DIffused group b cell and follicular lymphoma.
The chickadee and pinecone/tassell are the state birds and flower of maine, my home. mom's home.
Thanks for asking. Golly, explaining that to the artist was hard. I was a blubbbering mess. But he got the symbolism and said he was honored to do it for me.

That is a beautiful tatoo, but the symbolism behind it is even more so!

That's what i was hoping to feel like. Like mom was right here watching over my shoulder.
Thanks everyone. I am pretty pleased with it. I went in without an expectation that it would be EXACTLY what was in my mind, what with art being a hard thing to get from one person's idea to another's hand. BUt when i saw it in the mirror at the ssttudio, i cried. it was just what i had in mind.~~ Missy ~~
