The newspaper
I recently stopped my subscription to the local paper and have been reading it on line. I do buy the Hartford paper on the weekends because DH and I just love to read all the sections at our leisure. But during the week the paper is gone.
A had a couple of reasons for doing so. #1 It is no longer local. A larger paper bought it out. #2 It is 1/2 of what it used to be. #3 I am just sick to death of all the paper mess. #4 It is now a morning paper instead of an evening paper so the news is always from the day before.
I thought I would miss it but I don't miss it at all. As an added bonus I am saving $189.00 a year for the subscription plus the $156.00 a year ($3 weekly X 52) I gave in tips. Not to mention the Christmas tip.
So how many of you read your paper on line? And do you miss having it delivered?

I gave up my daily subscription 3 years ago, it was hard for a while but I also read it online, they put the entire thing on. It's funny though, we've always called it "the daily mistake" and most of us read it mainly for the obits, isn't that sad?

I have never been able to justify a newspaper subscription for myself since I only read the local section, sports section and the obituaries. At one time I would pick one up at the store if I was out. When I ran the restaurant we always had one there I would read. For the past few years I have just been reading it online. It is the first thing I do every morning and since they update throughout the day, I check back in as the day progresses.

We were getting the weekend deal for a while (Fri/Sat/Sun), but they upped the rates and weren't putting in as many coupons. So, we stopped subscribing. I don't miss it at all. We occasionally pick up a Sunday paper, but that is a rarity.
Our Sunday paper is $1.50. Is that a going rate?Kace - married to Dh 12 years
