I had to answer that I always answer it if it rings because, I don't know if I do or not. We cancelled caller ID and call waiting several years ago.

I chose almost never bc DH actually does sometimes............. I personally only do if it's an accident (such as Grace opens up my cell for me. lol)

I rarely answer my phone anyway, though! I'm bad

Never , never ,never. If you cant tell me who you are I cant talk to you. I actualy had someone say on my answering machine that it was time for me stop ignoring his phone calls. But he didnt say who he was or leave a numeber. MY poor brother said he has called several times and I never answer. I said well if you call from another number you better speak up to the machine.

I don't have caller id because if I don't want to talk, I just let it go to the answering machine. If I pick it up and it's a telemarketer, I'm kind because I wouldn't want their job!!

I answer, if I want to speak, sometimes the machine will pick up if I can't get to the phone. If it is a private or unlisted call I don't give it much thought.

We don't have caller ID at home so I answer, And on my cellphone I don't answer private calls unless I'm job hunting because agencies are usually blocked numbers. My voicemail message says don't leave a message because I have to pay to hear it and if you called from a blocked number I don't answer I'm too frugal to call my voicemail

I alway answer, if it's a telemarketer -- I tell them "please remove me from your call list" They have to do it, or they can be fined.

We're the same way in this house. We almost never answer the phone unless we see who's calling or are expecting someone. If its urgent they'd leave a message on the machine or call our cell's which do not have vm. (my friends will text my cell to tell me that it was them who just called and what time so I can call them back from the landline ) If its family they'd use the walkie talkie portion of our cell phones.

As for the door - we never answer it unless we're expecting anyone. Ever. Family has their own key.

98% of phone calls/door bells are all strangers, telemarketers etc. Life has been much simpler since we've decided to live this way.

I answered sometimes by accident. This is because I don't have caller id and I normally let the answering machine pick up, but if my DD is home, she will pick up "sometimes by accident".
