Hope I never have to do this EVER again.
Friday night just as we were getting ready for bed a cousin called me. He lives down in a small town close to our biological father. Seems he has not seen father in a week. The lights are on at night but he is not answering the door. The law said one of us girls has to be there before they will break the door in.
So I go for the 2 hour drive on Saturday to check on him........ God help me.......He was in the house with the heat on 80 and had passed away sometime on Monday. There was blood all over his bed and he was laying on the floor. His nasty cats were in there with him(I will not describe anymore). I am still having nightmares over this.He died of a massive heart attack.
Hasmat(sp) after-care came in and locked the house up till they could clean it all up.
I went to a motel and stayed till I could get ahold of all the family and get him layed to rest. Family could not understand why the casket was closed.( I did not have the heart to tell they he was not IN the casket till we put him in the hearse.)
I came home on Monday night to get older sister and drive back. She did not understand what we were doing. For that I was thankful of.
I had him buried with full military honors.21 gun salute and all.They gave the flag to our great neice. She is the one who had been living with him. She was away at Scout camp.(medical staff)
I was never so happy to see anyone as I was to see my Daddy on Tuesday. He stood beside me as they lowered the casket into the ground.
Hasmat(sp) released the house back to us before we left on Tuesday. Niece will not stay there.(I do not blame her.) We will put it on the market soon.
I hope to never have to do anything like this EVER again.

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. One of my dear friends down the street killed himself just this year, and his daughter found him. I felt so sorry for her! I can't imagine the trauma something like that would cause!
I wish I could be there to give you a real hug.

I am so sorry you had to go through such a terrible ordeal. Same thing happened when my mother died. My sister lived nearby and was the one to find her. There is no Hazmat there so my sister had to do the cleanup herself!
She described some of it to me and it was horrific.
We're here for you.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
