Post How many things do you need to buy for your school supplies?

I just got the list for my dd's class, 2nd grade. She needs 19 items! It just seems like a bit much! Here is the list:

2 composition notebooks (must be black/white)
    2 boxes pencils
    Box of crayons
1 pkg of three glue sticks
    Fiskars scissors
    1 pkg erasers
1 pkg dry erase markers (black)
    1 wooden ruler
    2 pkg loose leaf paper
    1 pkg 3x5 index cards
    1 box washable Crayola markers
    Zippered pencil pouch
    Backpack
    1 bottle hand sanitizer
    1 container sanitizing wipes
    1 box zip lock bags

    Also she needs:
    lunchbox
    box of kleenex

I guess I'll be taking her to school the first day! What does your list look like?

I haven't go my list yet. Hell I don't even know what school they are going to (they do a lottery system here and we are new).

All I know is that I have 2 kids now to buy supplies for. The lists are getting longer and longer and more specific.

Haven't gotten my kids lists yet. Regarding the hand sanitizer, I read on someone's blog where a child in kindergarten licked it off her hand instead of rubbing it in and the alcohol content put her in the hospital very sick. I really don't know any more details but was wondering if anyone else has heard about this.

I have no idea. We still don't have any teacher assignments or supply lists. But then, school doesn't start for another 6-7 weeks.

DS(age 12) won't really need anything since he is still being homeschooled.

DD (age 14)is going to be attending a very small Christian based private homeschool center. Her tuition includes all supplies except paper and a calculator.

D'oh! I just found two generic supply sheets that were sent home in final report cards. I know they will be added to by whichever teacher they finally get.

    4th grader
1 single subject wide ruled notebook
1 pkg loose leaf paper, wide ruled
    20 #2 pencils
    5 blue/black pens
    2 glue sticks
    1 pair scissors
    1 hi-lighter
2 pkgs ruled 3x5 index cards
    1 box 24ct crayons/colored pencils
    1 soft, zippered pencil case
    1 hand-held pencil sharpener w/ cap (optional)
    1 book bag/backpack

    8th Grade
    3 binders, 2", 3-ring
    3 binders, 1", 3-ring
    1 binder, 1.5", 3-ring
    colored pencils
    1, 2-pocket folder
    yellow highlighter
    blue/black pens
    TI 30II calculator
    pencils
    ruler
    protractor
    2 3x5 index cards
    spanish/english dictionary
    1 subject notebook
    2, 5-subject dividers
    1 page protector

Is it me or is the amount of 3-ring binders freaking ridiculous??? SEVEN 3-ring binders and they don't allow them to "share" binders with other classes. Who the heck can fit seven binders in their lockers much less lug them around school all day??

Anyway, that's two out of four class supply lists. We have all on the above lists except the Spanish/English dictionary.

we don't have a list here and school starts in september. but teachers get crazy because they want u to supply them with stuff.some things i do understand. tissues i buy a box every year for both my kids.
but when they ask for extra tp! extra hand sanitizer.extra paper. expo markers for the school white board!money for this and that etc etc!!! it is crazy. i supply for my kids. hey guess what i can't afford half of what they want. and some of it is not needed! i know they dont make a lot of money but seriously!why supply every one with zip lock bags? and containers? somethings wrong here.
they have sent a paper out stating who gave and that those who didnt need to supply items once they run out.again tissues i understand. everyone uses them, but to make a list like that and point fingers??? it is just too much.

Molly will be attending public school this year for 6th grade. We homeschooled 3rd-5th grades. There are 26 items on the school supply list for 6th grade! Some of those include 6 or 12 of the same item, so we are talking about a lot of supplies! I won't copy the list here, it is just too long.

School starts on Aug. 16th, and enrollment is this Wednesday, Aug. 1.
