    Default For H&B aids, cleaning supplies, and odds and ends...

    Do you feel you save more at places like Dollar stores and Big Lots type places.....

    Or at a 'regular' store like a grocery, Walmart, whatever-------with sale items + coupons.

    Just wondering where you all go for real deals/steals.

    Here Big Lots and Dollar General are more expensive than Wal-Mart but less expensive than Winn Dixie, Bruno's and Publix.

    The Dollar Tree is not even worth going to here - really junky and everything there is pretty much just throw away stuff that never lasts or works.

    I buy my cleaning supplies at the regular grocery stores on sale with a coupon . I dont buy any type of Lysol products unless it is under 50 cents. I bought lysol with bleach for the kithchen a few weeks back at publix for 35cents a bottle. I got scrubbing bubbles for 50cents and windex for 69 cents. In other words a 1.00 is too much for anything. I hope that answers you question

    I buy most of my stuff by combining sales/store coupons with Manufacturer coupons.

    Thanks! Good to know. I've been wondering whether the dollar stores were worth it for these items. I do find them helpful for wrapping paper, bows, and cards, though.

    WOW! Now thats a bargain!! But how big are the sizes you buy? Regular full size? Even when things are on sale and I have a coupon I cant get em that cheap! Great job!

    I think wherever you are able to shop you have to make the decision for yourself. Some dollar store items are truly junk. Others are undiscovered gems. Its all trial and error and once you find what works for you - stick with it!

    The only thing we buy at the dollar store here is Dishwashing Powder. BUT with all my free Electrasol, I won't be needing any for a long while!

    jskell911---where did you get all the free Electrasol? How much? That would be great!

    I agree that it's pick-and-choose at the Dollars and Big Lots. I have foudn some very good deals, and passed over some things knowing it may be cheap, but it IS cheap.

    I did get a really good deal recently at Big Lots. I have been in the market for a vacuum, mine being on the fritz. I went there to look at some other sales, all mostly crud. But I saw a Eureka Uno Vacuum, box NOT having been opened and messed with, all new, attachments all there, it's a bagless vac., for $60.00!!!

    I have been looking, so I know that Target and all the usual places have it for 129.00 or more, and online at warehouse places it is also 129.00 at the cheapest. I was excited! My SIL buys fancy expensive vacs like Dyson --$500 (to each his own) and has to replace them as often as I do. Or more often.

    I buy almost exclusively with sales/store coupons/manuf coupons/rebates at Walgreens. I check out hotcoupondeals.com ALL the time for the latest and greatest deals! I'm about to post on the FREE topic about everything I got FREE today there! LOVE it!

    These are regular full sized bottels. They were on sale buy 1 get 1 and I have 1.00 off coupons. Lysol brands go on sale b1g1 every 3 months or so. If you watch the sales trends most cleaning items and snackfoods show up b1g1 get 12weeks. When I get a coupon for something like windex I keep it until it goes on sale and then I buy enough of it to last until the next sale, or in my case even more so I dont have to buy it again for like a year. The trick is too stock pile.

    I buy my ajax dish detergent and my salad dressing at Dollar General or

    I also buy spic and span and Mr clean.
    I have yet to find a decent deal at Walgreens ( except a survey on line that got me a $5 gift card )

    With Walgreens, it's all about stacking coupons with sales and their Register Rewards - I just got a TON free again today using this method!

    ohhhhhhhhhh cool idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know you could split those things in half!

    are you only breaking the solid ones or the gel pacs also??

    I've got a stash that's amazing from all the freebie electrasol - plus there's another freebie coupon out now!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    now, to answer the OP ~ I don't typically purchase any cleaning products - just vinegar and baking soda BUT I will if it's a GREAT deal! (which equals practically free)
    but I buy H&B type products from Kroger (with coupons, while items are on sale) - and there is usually something being clearanced out -
    so - for me, Kroger is the best spot
    I get my cleaning supplies from either Walgreen's, CVS, or RiteAid for nearly free, like a few others have mentioned.
    If you keep up with the ads, keep your coupons, the store coupons, etc. you can make out like a bandit!
    It just takes a little bit of your time to coordinate. But it is SO worth it!
