Weirdness at the grocery store??!!
OK, WHAT is going on around here?
DS#2 and I walked up the the corner grocery store this afternoon to pick up a few things for dinner tonight and tomorrow (friends are coming over for pizza and salad). This store is truly a low-key kind of place, where dressing up is defined by putting sneakers instead of flip flops! In walked this man who literally made me look twice. It is NINETY FOUR DEGREES outside and this guy is in a navy double-breasted suit with a maroon shirt on. He is short (about 5'8 or so), stocky build (not fat, but muscled), combed back black hair and aviator glasses. My first thought was, "He looks like he's Mafia!" and then mentally laughed at myself for stereotyping. i went on my way and got my groceries.
I was waiting for DS by the door (he was buying he and brother donuts) when this man walked by me. I said, "Aren't you HOT?" and he kind of laughed and said, "I just got out of court". He took an other step or two, turned back and said (in a low voice), "Besides, I have my gun on me and I didn't want to freak anyone here out!!!" I figured I must be losing it in the heat, so just smiled and said something along the lines of, "Good thinking" and he smiled at me and walked out the door.
I mentioned this to my neighbor (who is a cop) and his eyes about bugged out of his head. He said,"WHY was he volunteering THAT information? Did he think he was being some kind of STUD??" I nearly wet my pants laughing when he said this! I assume that "Mr. Mafia" is a detective. FWIW, he drives a very nice new Mustang that DS#2 was drooling over!

this is probably TMI but..........
ever since i was a tween, ive thought men like this were HOT.
yeah, DH doesnt know whats wrong with me. We've talked about it, and if Ray Liotta from his Goodfella days EVER makes a move on me.. I'm so taking it.
Granted.. people cant go back in time or anything and Ray Liotta doesnt look like Henry Hill anymore. Oh but if he did......... *swoon*marie/andrea

Due to the fact that he said that to you, no matter what he is, I'd say he was trying to impress you. Thinks you're cute, I'll bet!
But 'business' people are often in a complete suit and tie on business days. Even when it's hot. I'd hate to see how wet and smelly that shirt gets under there!

I just thought that,if it were me, I would have taken my jacket off as soon as I hit my car! There's nothing wrong with a dress shirt (rolled up sleeves) and dress slacks.
As for hitting on me? I don't know, but he WAS kinds cute!

When I worked for Dillard's, all the male employees were required to wear long sleeved dress shirts, ties, and jackets year round.

I'd be really curious to know if he actually had a gun or was trying to be funny and impress you. Either way, I'd say he was definitely flirting with you!

He may have been a police officer, as well. My DH is a cop and has had to go to court. He also has to be armed at all times. Even if a cop isn't working, they are kind of 'on call' and usually carry their guns at all times.

Speaking of always being "on duty" my husband is an EMT and we were in the middle of our character breakfast in Disney World and a little kid was jumping around and split their lip open, blood everywhere. My husband immediately left his meal to tend to this child. The family was so grateful that my husband was there. I think my husband feels that if it was his family member and there was an emergency person around he would want them to help his family.
