Checking in, from Massachusetts
Hello. I'm an elementary school teacher, living in rural western Mass with my wife of 23 years and two boys (17 and 11). We have a kitten, who can't go outside because she'd be eaten by the wildlife, or just badly beaten by red squirrels. I like to cook, take pictures of plants and bugs, go fishing ... I've been working this summer as a State Forest Interpreter, and now I'm thinking about back-to-school.
I've been working on a cookbook project for a long time, and not making much headway lately. I hope to renew my inspiration by visiting here from time to time.

Hi Geoff and welcome, this is a great place to get inspiration. And I understand on the kitten, we've got everything from mink to coyote on our farm.

It's a nature interpreter position ... resident naturalist. I plan and implement interpretive programming for park visitors centered around the natural and cultural themes of the State Forest. I do nature hikes, fishing clinics, and stuff like that. We have a 19th century cemetery too, so I do a Tombstone Talk that focuses on local history and early land use.
It's a good job. Gets me outside, and I get paid to go fishing, too.
edited to add: I'm originally from SE Mass ... Brockton area.Last edited by Geoff; 08-13-2007 at 06:49 PM. Reason: additional information
