    Default Update on DH Unemployment

I thought I would share an update on DH unemployment situation. We had good news yesterday - he rec'd his 1st UE payment. It's the max he can draw and so much less than we are used to. We are doing fine though...we have just tightened the belts a bit more. I have managed to keep the grocery budget well under what we usually spend at this point in the month. Thank Goodness for an Emergency Fund, coupons, stocked pantry, home cooking and Frugal Village!

He is now considered a displaced worker and he rec'd some info about attending training for a new career. He starts Truck Driver training next week. (he used to have a class A/CDL license years ago) We thought this would be a great opp to get refreshed on the "new" rules of the road, get more license endorsements and have his training paid for while he is unemployed. After completing the course (8 weeks) they have company recruiters come and interview. The instructor told them in orientation that good companies really want the top in the class so DH is determined to be the best. This means OTR driving (which I had preciously mentioned he would probably do) but we all have to do what we have to do. I really don't want him to be gone for long periods of time but I am keeping that opinion to myself as to not make him feel bad or discouraged.

So things are looking up. I am so proud of DH for being so excited and taking the initiative to get into the training. I just gotta remember to keep my mouth shut about him being gone so much. I know I sound like a baby but I am so used to having him around that it's gonna be real hard.

I will just have to frequent FV more!

sometimes my dh goes away just for two or three days and i get lonely!! so if your dh starts going on the road more and more frequently, its perfectly understandable that youre going to miss him and want him home, he's your dh!! - im glad that he's getting this training under his belt, i know that in the papers here (dallas, tx) there's always tons of ads in the employment section for cdl drivers. my brother is thinking about going to train for that.

So glad things are looking up for you guys! That positive attitude is really going to help. Teamwork! Big hug on the being smiley and encouraging as he's gone more often, it's not easy when you both have to go through these changes. Just think of all the fun you guys will have when you get together after missing each other.
