people here are panicking!
I have never seen people here panic over a hurricane that is not in the gulf yet. Today,we went to the store to buy the baby some milk & it was extremely crowded....people loading up on bottled water..there was hardly any on the shelves...people were crowding other people in the checkout lines - very uncomfortable....and the business next door to the grocery store was already boarding up their windows. We normally don't see people acting like this until a hurricane is 48 hrs away from landfall. The flashing amber alert signs on the freeway have been telling motorists to keep their tanks full for the past 3 days...& of course, the gas stations here have rose their price of gas....just you wait - the minute that Dean finds its way into the gulf, we're going to see gas $3 or better a gallon.
We're not running around like headless chickens, but we are starting to plan if we need to evacuate. The thing that bothers me the most is that I will have to leave most of my rabbits behind...I'll probably have to move some cages inside the garage...its the best that I'll be able to do

Glad to see your post. I was wondering how you made out last week.
I know what you mean about folks getting wacky. We had that 2 years ago when we got hit those 4 times. Its alittle scary watching folks get so panicky.
Whenever things start to get like that around here I always think of the Kipling poem " If". Dear Mrs. Hart must be smiling down from heaven knowing that she put that poem in one childs mind forever.
Please take care of yourselves. We'll pray for your saftey.

P.S. Will send the next 2 books in the series just finished them.

People do tend to panic early! Just do what you usually do, and you will be okay! I've found the ones that panic, are the ones that have never been through it before.

i am keeping a close eye too. we have the LDS (Mormon) food storage and all, but I need to dump out last years drums of hurricane water and refill them with fresh. glad hubby made hurricane shutters for Hurricane Rita.
May I suggest instead of bottled water that you get several clean UNUSED 55 gal empty drums from a supplier and fill them instead. it easier and cheaper than water from the store. Oh, yeah, fill them up in place, ya can't move them after they are full.
IKEA sells large boxes of plain candles. i need to get gas in the car and some cash.

People could be panicking because this hurricane is a nasty strong one. Maybe people are scared another Katrina like situation could happen? Stay safe everyone.
